Calliope reads any selected text aloud with natural, neural-network voices — completely offline and free.
How it works: select text on any page, then right-click → "Read with Calliope", press Ctrl+Shift+Y, or hit Play in the toolbar popup.
Features:
- 7 natural voices: English (US), Português (Portugal), Français, Español, Deutsch, Italiano
- Adjustable reading speed (0.5x–3x)
- Play, pause, resume, and stop controls
- Works on any website
Private by design: speech is generated entirely inside your browser using the Piper neural TTS engine (WebAssembly). Nothing you read or select ever leaves your device. No
accounts, no tracking, no data collection. Each voice downloads once (~60 MB) and is cached for offline use.
Named after the Greek muse of eloquence and epic poetry.
