Chat Exporter for ChatGPT is an unofficial local backup and export tool for ChatGPT conversations.
The extension works directly on ChatGPT and allows you to create readable local backups without manually copying conversations.
It lets users:
The extension does not delete, modify, archive, rename, or otherwise change ChatGPT conversations.
Current limitations:
All processing is performed locally in the user's browser.
The extension does not contain:
The extension does not send conversation content, authentication information, browsing activity, or exported files to the developer or to third-party servers.
Requests required to retrieve the user's conversations are made directly between the user's browser and chatgpt.com using the user's existing ChatGPT session.
Authentication information is used only in memory and is not stored by the extension.
The extension contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising, tracking systems, external developer servers, or remotely downloaded executable code.
Exported HTML files are static and contain no JavaScript.

- Export only selected conversations using checkboxes.
- Export all conversations available in the supported conversation scope.
- Search conversations by title or conversation ID.
- Export one conversation as one standalone HTML file.
- Export multiple conversations as one ZIP containing a separate HTML file for every conversation.
- Load older paginated conversation history before export.
- Preserve visible User and Assistant messages and detected source links.
- Choose where the export is saved using Firefox's Save As dialog.
- Use the interface in Polish or English.
The extension does not delete, modify, archive, rename, or otherwise change ChatGPT conversations.
Current limitations:
- Images and file attachments are not downloaded yet.
- Archived and Temporary chats are not included yet.
- Some special ChatGPT content blocks may require additional handling.
- For conversations containing Edit or Regenerate variants, the export contains the conversation state returned by ChatGPT at export time.

The native ChatGPT data export is intended for full account data export and is not convenient when the user only wants to save a few selected chats or quickly create local backups.
This add-on allows users to export selected conversations or all available conversations directly from ChatGPT into standalone HTML files. Multiple conversations are bundled into a ZIP file.
The project was originally created for my own use, but I decided to publish it because other users may also find this type of selective conversation backup useful.
This extension is still being improved. Images, file attachments and some special ChatGPT content types may be supported in future versions.
