I turned it back on to export something today, and it tried to hijack my search engine. That's a total loss of trust here on my side. Good luck with that.

The latest update hijacks your search bar. Searches are routed through a site called searchvane, which reroutes you to ad pages, which then fingerprint your browser.

The good reviews are all from before this update. Do not install.

I wish there was an option to make it also download the latest versions of files. My use case: I often use chatgpt to write long documents, which require a lot of editing: in fact so much that the chat often reaches its maximum length. Then i like to export the conversation and add it as a file into a new chatgpt session. But I dont like that I also have to add all the files and versions for it to be able to make sense of the chat. Do you think it's possible to make it do this automatically?

Great add-on! I use it to hand off my ChatGPT web conversations to the Codex extension in VS Code. I know Codex Desktop can import them directly, but I prefer not to use it.
A few suggestions:
Add Markdown export. It would be the cleanest format and ideal for handing conversations off to other coding agents.
The current LaTeX export embeds about 1 MB of MathJax. Using a public CDN would also be acceptable.
Add an export option to Firefox's right-click context menu.

Well It solved my export problem but I hope Firefox monitors that also.

This extension actually saves the whole page... not just part that is loaded. Great job!

Update 6/12/2026: ChatGPT API is returning a 401 error and not exporting the chat.

As of May 2026, ChatGPT loads only small fragment of the full chat. It broke backing up with SingleFile and most other addons.

This addon is first I found that still works. There are minor visual issues, like multiline markdown comment from chatgpt reply that display **foo ... \n ... bar** instead of bold text and uneven markdown line break ***, but export is good enough. Images work too. Thank you for your work.

edit: I did find an issue. If chat has multiple 'paths' (< 1/3 > etc) addon can't export it - only last (here < 3/3 >) gets exported, not active or multiple 'paths'.

Update: I'm getting 401 API Unavailable or similar. I thought this addon didn't try to contact external servers and only do simple html and css processing. But it seems it actually sends requests to a server. Very sad.

Reasons to give 5 stars: I have tested so far like 5 or more addons to save chat history in PDF or Markdown. The problem: for some reason they all do requests to third party servers, that and for some even weirder reason, they all render multi line code blocks with no endlines.

Yes, you read it well, they cut code lines in weird places, forcing me to waste precious time in manual editing to fix all code blocks.

This is the first addon that actually renders code blocks correctly. Putting line ends in correct places. That and no requests to third party servers.

So, it only does html, no markdown. Easy, export as html, then print to PDF file, then upload that PDF to ChatGPT, or any other, and ask it to resume as markdown in a copyable code block, copy, paste into your wiki, forum, personal notes, etc.

Also, the theme looks nice. Buy the dev some coffee, please.

Something is wrong, the extension used to be able to save extremely long sessions, im talking hundreds of messages, but now it wont save past maybe 50 or so

Unfortunately the extension isn't outputting clean human-readable output due to ChatGPT's feature of adding contextual hyperlinks to certain output text (e.g., a hyperlinked "William Gibson" in the chat text is replaced with "entity["people","William Gibson","science fiction author"]" in the extension's output.

It would be nice to have the option to strip all "entity" information out and show only the simple, human-readable output. With this further update/change, the extension would be highly useful, not just moderately useful (due to the further editing currently required).

Not sure what happened, it worked fine at first, but now it only grabs whats immediately on the page and maybe a little higher. I didn't change any settings, I'm not a computer expert though.
