What the add-on sends, and when
The add-on sends data only to the Fokus API, which serves your own Fokus account, and only in these cases:
- Signing in: your email address and password, or a one-time Google sign-in code.
- Saving something: the page title and URL, the text you selected or the page's readable text, and the note, task, or event details you entered.
- While you are signed in: once a minute, a request asking whether a focus session is running and, when one starts, your blocklist. Nothing about the sites you visit is sent.
Every request also carries a random per-installation identifier, which the Fokus API uses to secure your session.
What stays in your browser
Your sign-in tokens (kept only for the browser session unless you choose "Remember me"), your active workspace, and your preferences (theme, default capture type, selection menu and toast settings). Sites you choose to continue to during a focus session are remembered until the browser closes.
What the add-on does not do
No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no data is sold or shared with third parties. It does not read or send page content unless you save something. The selection menu can be switched off in the add-on's settings.
Retention and deletion
Anything you save lives in your Fokus account and can be deleted there at any time. Signing out removes your tokens from the browser; uninstalling removes everything the add-on stored locally. To delete your account: https://getfokus.com/delete-account
