Green Pill 的隐私政策
Green Pill has no server. The developer receives no data of any kind.
What is sent, and when
Nothing is sent until you select text and choose "Fact-check with Green Pill"
from the right-click menu. Normal browsing sends nothing.
When you invoke it, your browser makes two requests:
- To Tavily (api.tavily.com): your selected text as a search query, plus your
Tavily API key. - To Google Gemini (generativelanguage.googleapis.com): your selected text,
the article excerpts Tavily returned, and your Gemini API key.
The verdict is shown in a tooltip. That is the entire cycle.
What is stored
Your API keys and model choice are saved in browser.storage.local on your own
machine, and sent only to the service each key belongs to. They are not synced
and are not readable by any external party.
Why it needs access to all websites
You can fact-check text on any page, so the extension cannot know in advance
which page that will be. On web pages it only records your selection's position
in order to place the tooltip. It makes no network requests and reads nothing
beyond the text you selected.
Google's free tier
Green Pill uses Gemini 2.5 Flash on Google's free tier. Google's free-tier terms
state that submitted content may be used to improve Google's products and may be
read by human reviewers. The text you fact-check may therefore be read by Google
and used for training.
Avoid fact-checking private correspondence or sensitive information. Using a
paid Gemini key removes this — Google excludes paid-tier content from product
improvement.

Removing your data
Clear the key fields in the popup, or uninstall the extension — Firefox deletes
its local storage with it. Data already sent to Tavily or Google is subject to
their retention policies.
