WHAT THE EXTENSION READS
The extension reads only the URL of your currently active tab, and only at the moment you explicitly invoke it by:
• clicking the toolbar icon,
• clicking "Get transcript with Transcript.you" in the right-click menu, or
• clicking the in-page "📝 Transcript" button injected on YouTube and TikTok video pages.

WHAT THE EXTENSION DOES NOT DO
• It does NOT read your browsing history.
• It does NOT collect a list of pages you visit.
• It does NOT transmit data to any third party other than transcript.you, and only when you have explicitly invoked it.
• It does NOT use cookies, web beacons, fingerprinting, or any third-party analytics inside the extension.
• It does NOT run code on any website beyond YouTube and TikTok video pages (its host permissions are scoped accordingly).
• It does NOT collect any personally identifiable information.

DATA SENT TO TRANSCRIPT.YOU
When you invoke the extension, the URL of the video you are watching is sent to https://transcript.you/from-url (for TikTok) or https://transcript.you/tube (for YouTube), which kicks off transcription. No other data accompanies that request.

USE OF DATA
The transmitted URL is used solely to fetch and display the transcript of the video you selected. It is logged briefly for diagnostic and abuse-prevention purposes, then retained as part of your transcript history if you are signed in. The URL is never sold, rented, shared with advertisers, used for AI model training, or used for any purpose unrelated to delivering the requested transcript.

YOUR RIGHTS
If you are signed in to a transcript.you account, you can delete any transcript and your entire account from your account page. Guest usage (without an account) is identified only by IP address for quota purposes and is purged after 30 days.
