The Persian rubais are based on the renowned manuscript transcribed by Sheikh Mahmoud Pirbudaghi in the year 865 AH (1460 CE), one of the oldest and most authentic sources of Khayyam's poetry.

The English renderings are by Professor Juan Cole, a distinguished scholar of Middle Eastern history and literature at the University of Michigan. His translations are celebrated for their accuracy, poetic flow, and deep cultural insight.
