Light Visual Bookmarks turns the new tab page into a grid of your real Firefox bookmarks. There is no separate list to maintain: add, rename, move or delete a bookmark anywhere in Firefox and the grid follows, and changes made in the grid go straight to your bookmarks.
Features
- Folders open right in the grid, with a Back tile and a preview of what's inside.
- Drag and drop to reorder tiles or move them into a folder.
- Three tile styles: site icon, page screenshot or first letter only.
- Screenshots are taken on your computer and stored only in your browser. New bookmarks get one automatically.
- You can skip screenshots for individual sites: mark a single bookmark or a whole folder.
- Your own cover for any tile: drop an image file onto it.
- 3 to 10 tiles per row; any bookmarks folder can be the start page.
- Light and dark look that follows your Firefox appearance.
- Background: a built-in image, a solid color, your own image or the Bing image of the day.
- “Add to bookmarks” in the page context menu, straight into any folder.
- Open a bookmark in a new tab, window or private window; open a whole folder at once; copy a link.
- Backup to a file: settings, screenshots, covers and background.
- English and Ukrainian interface.
How screenshots work
To take a screenshot, the page opens for a moment in a background window with your normal session, exactly as if you visited it, and closes once the shot is taken. Links to files are skipped, so no downloads start. Before a folder is captured you see a warning.
Privacy
- No accounts, no sign-up, no analytics. Nothing is sent to the developer.
- Site icons come from Google's icon service, which receives the page address without query parameters. Addresses on your local network are never sent.
- Access to page content is optional and requested only after you click to allow it. It is used for screenshots and for saving icons on your computer.
- bing.com is contacted only if you choose the Bing background.
