■ What it does

• Detects videos and audio files loaded by the page (mp4, webm, mkv, mp3, m4a, flac and more)• Detects HLS (.m3u8) and DASH (.mpd) playlists• Downloads HLS streams and re-packages them into a real, playable .mp4 file: – TS segments are transmuxed to MP4 – Separate audio + video renditions are muxed together (audio is preserved) – AES-128 encrypted streams are decrypted automatically• Choose the quality from master playlists (best/smallest, or pick from a list)• Live preview of the downloaded file before saving• Preview videos inline directly from the popup• Shows file size and stream type (video only / audio only / audio + video)• Optional download subfolder, "ask where to save" mode, minimum size filter• Configurable segment concurrency for faster stream downloads• Per-tab detection with badge counter; detection can be toggled with one click

■ Privacy

MediaSnag does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. All processing(detection, downloading, decryption, muxing) happens locally in your browser.No analytics, no remote code, no external servers. Media is downloaded only fromthe sites you visit, on your explicit request.

■ Limitations

• DRM-protected streams (Widevine, SAMPLE-AES) cannot be downloaded• DASH playlists are saved as manifests, not re-packaged video• MSE-only playback without a manifest may not be detectable• Some CDN-hosted files require specific headers; MediaSnag handles the common Referer/Origin cases automatically
