Fresh account, 96% win rate, 30 games total? You might be playing an engine.
Online Chess Recon runs a quick background check on your opponent the moment a game starts on lichess.org or chess.com, and shows the results in a small panel next to the board:
These combine into a 0–100 suspicion score: Looks normal, Worth watching, or High suspicion.
How it works: the extension reads your opponent's username from the board and makes 2–4 requests to the site's own public, unauthenticated API. Nothing else.
What it doesn't do: no account access, no tracking, no data collection, no interference with the game. It only talks to lichess.org and chess.com.
A note on limits: a fresh account on a win streak can also be a strong player's second account or a fast-improving beginner. Treat the score as a heads-up, not a verdict — and report suspected cheating through the site's own report feature, which analyzes actual move quality.
Online Chess Recon runs a quick background check on your opponent the moment a game starts on lichess.org or chess.com, and shows the results in a small panel next to the board:
- Account age — brand-new accounts are the classic pattern for engine users and bots
- Total games played — established accounts with long histories are rarely cheaters
- Recent form — win/loss/draw record and win rate over their last 25 rated games
- Fair-play flags — Lichess publicly marks Terms-of-Service violators, and Chess.com marks accounts closed for fair-play violations. When present, this is the strongest signal there is.
