It needs a go server to run (provided in the source code and on github) the go server hosts the files and history of the chat, the add-on only acts as a client to the server that handles everything - including hosting the mobile client, one of the nicer features directly connected to the extension is the reading of a progress on an youtube video and real-time sending that information to the phone where it constructs a link that the user can click and it continues with the youtube video on the phone at the same time..
