ScrollScope Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 9, 2026
ScrollScope is a browser extension for capturing screenshots of webpages, full pages and selected scrollable content for everyday and professional use.
What ScrollScope handles
ScrollScope accesses the active webpage only when the user explicitly starts a capture. During a capture it may process the pixels and webpage content needed to identify, stabilize, scroll and capture the requested surface. The active tab title may be used locally to create a readable screenshot filename.
Data use, collection and transmission
Webpage content and pixels accessed during a capture are used only to provide the screenshot functionality requested by the user.
ScrollScope does not operate a backend service and does not transmit webpage content, screenshots, browsing activity or capture results to ScrollScope or to third parties.
ScrollScope does not include accounts, advertising, analytics or telemetry. It does not sell user data or use user data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending or unrelated purposes.
All capture processing is performed locally in the browser. Finished PNG files are saved directly to the browser's Downloads folder at the user's request.
Permissions
ScrollScope requests only the browser permissions required for its capture workflow:
activeTab — grants temporary access to the active tab after the user explicitly invokes ScrollScope.
scripting — injects the packaged ScrollScope capture code into the active tab so it can inspect, stabilize, scroll and capture the surface selected by the user.
downloads — saves the completed PNG file to the browser's Downloads folder.
ScrollScope does not request persistent access to all websites.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
ScrollScope's use of information received through Chrome extension APIs and webpage access will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Storage and retention
ScrollScope does not retain captured webpage content or screenshots on developer-controlled servers because no such server is used. Downloaded screenshots remain under the user's control in the browser or operating system.
Third-party services and remote code
ScrollScope does not use third-party analytics, advertising, telemetry or remote code services.
Browser security boundaries
Browser-protected pages and some cross-origin content cannot be accessed beyond the permissions and origin rules enforced by Chrome or Firefox. ScrollScope does not attempt to bypass those protections.
Changes to this policy
If a future version changes how data is handled, this policy and the relevant browser-store disclosures will be updated before that version is published.
