Privacy Policy — Sound Notifier for Proton Mail

Summary: This add-on does not collect, store, or transmit your personal information or the contents of your email.

What the add-on does

The add-on plays a sound when new mail arrives in Proton Mail. To detect new mail, it runs on mail.proton.me and mail.protonmail.com and does two things, both entirely within your browser:

It reads the browser tab's title, which shows your unread count.
It reads the responses your Proton Mail session already receives from Proton's servers, in order to count new unread messages in your inbox. It does not read the contents, senders, or subjects of your emails.

The add-on makes no requests to Proton's servers and sends no information anywhere. Nothing it reads leaves your device.

What is stored

Your preferences, such as how long the sound rings, are stored locally in your browser by Firefox's storage. They are not transmitted anywhere. Removing the add-on removes them.

Payments

The add-on is paid. Payments and license checks are handled by ExtensionPay, a third-party service. When you purchase, you provide your email address to ExtensionPay, and payment details are processed by their payment provider. The add-on periodically asks ExtensionPay whether your copy is activated. The developer of this add-on does not receive or store your payment details.

Third parties

Apart from ExtensionPay, as described above, the add-on shares no data with anyone. There is no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising.

Permissions

Access to Proton Mail pages: required to detect new mail and play the sound.
Storage: required to remember your settings and activation status.

Children

This add-on is not directed at children under 13, and no personal information is knowingly collected from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on the add-on's listing page, with a new date above.
