SUB — YouTube Subtitle Tutor Privacy Policy

SUB — YouTube Subtitle Tutor does not use analytics, telemetry, tracking, advertising analytics, or a developer-operated data collection server.

Local storage:
The extension stores user preferences and the user-provided Gemini API key locally in Firefox extension storage. The API key is not sent to or stored by the developer.

Gemini translation:
Gemini translation is optional and is performed only after a deliberate user action. When the user requests a translation, the selected word, the relevant subtitle sentence and context, the requested target language, and the user's Gemini API key are transmitted directly from Firefox to Google's Gemini API.

Google processes this information under Google's own terms and privacy policies. The developer does not receive or store the transmitted content, translation results, or Gemini API key.

YouTube access:
The extension reads the currently open YouTube page and available subtitle content to display and customize subtitles and provide word translation.

Optional ad cleanup:
Ad-cleanup rules are disabled by default. They activate only after the user explicitly enables the feature.

Data sales and sharing:
The developer does not sell user data and does not share user data with advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers.

User control:
Users can remove their Gemini API key from the extension settings at any time. Users can avoid all Gemini data transmission by not configuring an API key or by not using the translation feature.
