Useless extension. No idea why Mozilla is advertising this garbage. This extension does only one thing as far as I can tell, it prompts you to download a standalone program. The program is what does the actual downloading. So what does the extension do besides (probably) spy on you and tell you to install that other program?

There's PLENTY of programs that you can use to download youtube videos without needing to compromise your browser privacy and security by using an extension. And god only knows what data the standalone program is sending the developer of this thing.

This used to be a flawless app. I have repeatedly donated to the site. However, it seems broken now. It will freeze mid-download about 80% of the time. I have uninstalled, reinstalled it..it just freezes. Also in the past, if it did not fully download a video, it would give an error message,so you knew it did not download it. But now it shows it as downloaded where only a partial download was done. Can you offer help to a used-to-be-happy paying customer? Thanks

Don't install this anymore! This addon was actually good a few months ago when you could just donwload any video or rip audio from video to Mp3 but now you get a watermark in the videos you download. All of a sudden the addon want you to download and register other stuff that I'm not interested in. I write this review to save your time and not install this addon. Here is what it says when downloading a video:

"You will notice the resulting video contains a watermark in the corner."

"This is because you chose an ADP variant and the conversion feature has not been registered."

DOESN'T WORK. JUST SHOWS A LIST OF UNINTELLIGIBLE OPTIONS. NO WAY TO JUST DOWNLOAD FOR EXAMPLE 720 OR 1080 MP4 VIDEO LIKE OTHER DOWNLOADERS.
WHOSE MATE PUT THIS ON MOZILLA RECOMMENDED LIST.

Der DownloadHelper braucht extrem lange für Downloads falls es überhaupt funktioniert, konvertiert die DASH-A und-V Dateien häufig nicht in eine Datei um und appliziert jeweils einen riesigen QR-Code als Wasserzeichen in den Videos.
So ist dieses Addon nicht zu gebrauchen.

Es war einmal, vor langer, langer Zeit, da gab es ein AddOn zum Herunterladen von Videos, das war richtig gut und dazu kostenlos. Dann aber kamen offensichtlich Menschen, denen war die Profitgier in die Augen geschrieben und sie hatten eine Daseinsberechtigungsdefizitpsychose und konnten ihre Griffel nicht von dem Programm lassen. Also begannen sie, die Anwendung so zu verändern, dass sie nicht mehr sinnvoll nutzbar war. Sie bauten sehr viel Fehlverhalten ein, das den Nutzer in den Wahnsinn trieb und verlangten zudem noch Geld für eine angeblich sinnvolle Nutzung. Nicht, dass ich nicht bereit wäre, für ein sinnvolles Produkt zu bezahlen, aber wer ein Produkt, das einmal wirklich sehr gut in Funktion, Anwendung und Verständlichkeit war, derart was von vermurxt, bekommt von mir definitiv kein Geld. Explizit Verständlichkeit deshalb, weil ich jetzt (oder besser seit ein paar Jahren) zur Einstellung erst mal 2 Semester IT und Videotechnik studieren müsste, um sie durchführen zu können. Nur noch rudimentär nutzbar - so wie mittlerweile die meisten Softwareprodukte, egal ob kostenpflichtig oder kostenlos. Ich weiß nicht, wie das Gehirn von modernen Programmierer:innen aussieht, von Nutzerfreundlichkeit haben die alle noch nie etwas gehört, geschweige denn, sich in eine/n Nutzer/in hineinversetzen zu können. Das war schon mal anders.
Auf eine Aufzählung der einzelnen Negativpunkte verzichte ich hier, weil das ein ganzes Buch füllen würde.
