Contains hidden fees. First they take you to their website and make you install an external application, then when you try to use it, it sends you to their website again and says you have to buy the add-on.

Watermarks videos. Unacceptable.

Video DownloadHelper was a great tool for me to preserve the videos I like. It's was awesome!
Unfortunately, it's now asking users to install companion app so that it can combine unwanted QR codes with the video that users are trying to download. Even worse, the re-encoding process proceeded by the companion app needs much CPU resources to deal with, and for sure users are not willing to watch this happens.
Goodbye, VDH.

This used to be a great add-on, now it's a spam engine that will nag you with an unwanted tab every time you open firefox - whether it be for a 0.0.1 update, or a reminder to download the "optional" companion app required to save 90% of the video resolutions and formats that used to be free

I can't really recommend you to try another add-on doing the same thing, since there is none at the moment on firefox quantum... but the moment someone with a bit of time on their hands develops an alternative, just *ditch* downloadhelper - it had its heyday, but now it's just an annoying piece of spamming nagware.

And just to be clear: i don't fault the author for requesting donations, that's perfectly fair... it's the method he's using to bully people into handing over cash that make me want to grab a bucket and lean over it

My recommendation: disable video downloadhelper, and only enable it when you really need to try grabbing a vid

Used to be really good, would download anything. Then this weird companion app? Gives me a bad feeling..... so now it's gone, gone, gone.

Out of all the download managers I have tried, this one by far is the easiest and most reliable that I have used! Thanks to the developer!

Using this on a Windows 10 Dell Laptop. Downloaded a streaming video webcast, there was a break in the middle, but it also happened on another machine using a different process so it was probably the website that was doing the streaming. No issues, it worked fine, and as far as I was concerned was worth the $28.50. Programmers have to make a living too.

Completly crazy. Dowloader needs to install external program and during download it puts big QR Code watermark in video !!!
It takes long time.
You have to pay 28$ to remove watermark.
One word: shit.
Don't recommend.
