The new version of Video-DownloadHelper is horrendously bad. The interface has added complexity that offers no positive value to the app and obscures control of options that were perfectly accessible in the old Video-DownloadHelper. The performance of the "new-&-improved" (??!) Video-DownloadHelper is well-&-truly bizarre. I have no idea how long is required for the app to complete a download, because I am not that patient. I tried to download a file of about 250 MB and never finished; the app preemptively took over nearly 100% of both cores of my cpu and spiked memory usage, both while doing almost nothing network-wise. After several minutes of this state, the app had managed to download only about 70 MB. I could not get enough cpu slices to close Firefox or properly shut down my OS - hard reboot via power button was required!?! Note - I tried this experiment three times with nearly identical results each time.

Video-DownloadHelper used to be a solid, easy-to-use winner - no longer the case. Always sad to see a good app go bad.

Stay away from Video-DownloadHelper until the author reports having diagnosed and repaired the complaints reported by me and others.

Deze addon verschijnt niet in de werkbalk. Kan dus ook niet gebruikt worden. Jammer de vorige versies waren goed.

Die neue Version verlangsamt den Computer derartig, dass man besser auf den Downloadhelper verzichtet. Schade, vorher war das ein hervorragendes Addon!

The developer gives instructions that are supposed to work on other linux systems but after successfully installing and even restarting the computer, clicking on the download link prompts you to install the companion again. Waste of time. I trued on Fedora 26

Not working any longer.Says companion app is needed.This extra step needed to possibly get it working again is just to much trouble so will look for something better.I will keep it around for a short time to see if this is fixed.In the meantime I will use something else.

Its nothing like it used to be. Whoever is responsible for current development should be ashamed of what he did to this plugin. Its useless and horribly unefficient unless you are willing to pay for full version. Authors even go as far as LYING when it comes reencoding whole video just to add some crappy watermark - it is called "sumowanie" on polish locale, which is basically BS compared to whats actually going on.

Most likely hit a paywall, but couldn't find a way around having my media downloaded with a watermark. Nothing more frustrating!

This add-on is garbage! The interface is horrible and it requests that you download another free app to make it actually work. Now here's the kicker...you still have to PURCHASE a license agreement to convert files. Even just attempting to DL one video without converting it to a more usable format, IT FAILED! What a crock of shit! NEXT!

Won't work on OpenSUSE (no .rpm for the other part). It might as well not exist for all the good it does me.

It doesn't allow users to specify the directory to download files.
