I have been a VDH user for many years. Most of that time, I have had great results. However, since the use of the VDH Companion App has become necessary, I have encountered new problems, not sure if they have been reported on the forum because most of my search questions get no results. The problem is that this VDH Companion App causes, and has done so many times now, all 4 of my iMac computer cores to come on And my fan speeds to almost max out. 1796 and higher. How do I know this VDH Companion App is causing this for sure? I used Activity Monitor to find out. Once I used Activity Monitor to shut down VDH Companion App, my core use went back to normal and my fan speed dropped to normal. I had to use Activity Monitor to Shut down the VDH Companion App because I could not figure out how to do it otherwise and it was Continuing to run, even after I had Quit Firefox. How is this even possible? No apparent way to shut it off. Another issue is that there is no easy or clear way to contact the developer that I can find. I tried, again, searching on the Firefox Support forum on the VDH page, but Nothing comes up. I can't find a way to get feedback or questions to the developer. Apparently, there is a way, because I see that people post, but I can't find it. Why is there no direct link or email feedback form posted? Most of my other FF Add-Ons have a direct way, like an email link, that I can use to contact them. I see that many people have posted issues with the VDH Companion App as well.

Uso a muitos anos essa extensão, ja colaborei com donativo de tão boa e funcional que era. A partir da versão 7, o app ficou muito ruim. Não consigo entender qual versão de um video baixar porque não fica claro entre as opções de download, não mostra o tamanho da midia que será baixada, não baixa mais na mesma pasta, a menos que se use um outro app companion, o icone do app não tem mais a animação, que indica a presença de midia no site, enfim uma série de mudanças que me levaram a desabilitar o app e buscar outra solução. Uma pena pois sempre foi excelente, recomendei para diversos amigos mas hoje na versão 7 está inviável.

This app used to work perfectly fine. However, today when i tried using the latest version 7.1.1 it almost freeze my machine. The machine is busy and not able to do anything else. Any suggestions?

Cette extension était juste une merveille d'ingéniérie informatique jusqu'à la plus récente version. Ce qui était simple, intuitif et fonctionnel est devenu une montagne pour geek. Je plains ceux qui ne comprennent rien à l'explication donnée à propos du companion. Je me plains donc...
En bref, le constat se résume à des morceaux tronqués de vidéos, illisibles, des erreurs à répétitions auxquelles on ne comprend rien, à moins peut-être de payer la rançon de18€ ou 28 USD (là il va falloir aussi revoir un autre détail: le taux de conversions € - $)
Comment faire compliqué quand on peut faire simple: magnifique exemple.

This extension was just perfect, and now, it's quite useless. And what do I notice? On most complaints there's an answer linking to a google help forum. What's the heck? If you guys don't like ppl saying it doesn't work in hundreds of languages, just fix the bugs, what do we have to do with yet another help forum?
I shouldn't have written that if the app was still free or open source.

I'm not at all happy about the latest version of Video DownloadHelper. Before I was able to tell it where I wanted the video to be filed and could even change the name of the video as I wanted it labeled. NOW, it just directly to the download folder - I can't tell it where to be filed and can't change the title. I hate it. Please correct these issues or let us know how to correct it (customize). This is SSSSOOOOOO frustrating. Before, it was a very, very good product.

It was very good but it cannot be used anymore for videos since it's always asking me to install some companion application. In the end it wasn't useful because it didn't even redirect me to the companion application mentioned..

You need an extra program to make it work.It put a huge QR Code filigram (310x310px) in the video you download. The download takes very long. The licence costs a lot. This add-on was good before FF57.

Sorry devs, this was the best product, but now i see how many permissions they want I would advise everyone to stop using it. They want info from ALL apps and even clipboard. They need to cut back on security risk behaviour and i would give them 5 stars again.
