Used to be great, I used to love this downloader. Now though? Now it slaps a GIANT QR code taking up literally 30% of the screen. Previously it was a watermark which was fine. But a giant watermark? What absolute garbage is this? And keep in mind this is ON TOP OF it making you download a program to your computer.

Honestly if you need a video, just screen record it. This is NOT going to work very well for you. Trust me.

Funny thing is I would happily donate to them if they were actually struggling but if you render the video I downloaded LITERALLY USELESS then no. Forget that. There are other options out there.

Suddenly there's a massive QR code in the corner of downloaded videos, which the extension tries to make you believe was always there before but it wasn't as I have used this extension for many years, and if you want to remove these QR codes you must pay $30 for a "conversion license". Complete and utter BS. I'll be moving onto other alternatives.

I'm really tired of add ons like this not being honest, and mis-leading people in some way by promising us a free product which turns out to not really be free.

So-called "freemium" products (like this add on) should be fully transparent about it with people upfront and say "hey - you're not really getting a free lunch here", by us slapping an enormous watermark on to any video that's downloaded; and then - holding the file up hostage (with said watermark) until we "pony up the dough" for premium membership.

If you're not giving anyone a free product anymore than just say so dudes - preferably on your main add on page; so people like me are aware about it and about what we're adding onto our systems.

And as if all that wasn't bad enough - you require a third party app to be installed and "meshed into the cookie mix" of your product, by requiring a "companion app" which makes users download two programs to do one thing.

So.... you're expecting people to add a second add on to compliment yours - just so the thing works right, and then..... expect us to PAY for it on top of that also? Really?

First it asks me to download an app. Then I download a video...AND IT HAS A GIANT WATERMARK TAKING UP 30% OF THE SCREEN.....I CALL BS

The new version is useless unless you pay $$$. Just remove the useless version and download version 8.2.2.8 from addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/versions/ then turn automatic updates off.

Já foi bom. Ultimamente tem deixado muito a desejar. Além da velocidade de downlod estar muito baixas, vídeos muito longos ficam incompletos.

This no longer detects anything listed in the "Detect extensions" list. All I wanted was to grab a subtitle file which I know had worked in version 8.1. All versions of 9 are completely broken. Subtitle support was dropped. Audio support was dropped. Video chunk support was dropped.

They added a big QR code to downloaded videos. Useless now unless you pay them.

Keeps bothering you to install the "helper" application for basic functionality. Puts arbitrary limits on how many videos you can download within a certain period, this limit can be bypassed by uninstalling the extension, then reinstalling.

I have no problem with paying for open source software, but the fact that payment is required for some functionality should be made clear on the extension's page, and before the user spends potentially hours waiting on a video to download, only to find out this extension superimposed a massive QR code over the downloaded video.
