by Firefox user 12197181, 7 years agoI NEVER post reviews, so you know it is BAD when I'm forced to. Onetab crashed my browser and now I've lost months of research. I just installed the add-on, while I had over 1250 tabs in my browser. After installation I clicked on the icon, thinking it would pop open a selection window like many other add-ons. NOPE, Onetab closed ALL my tabs, which is not what I wanted. I saw the option to restore all so I selected that. It reopened all tabs (1250) but as you may know Firefox cannot handle opening that many tabs at once and it hung Firefox up. I gave it my normal 15 minutes to see if it would recover, it did not so I had to do a forced power off reboot. I've been using Firefox for almost 20 years, so I deeply understand how it handles the hundreds and sometime thousands of tabs I will have open for my research. Of course you can never reload all tabs at one time as when you have to many tabs active it slows down or crashes Firefox. So I reboot my machine once per day or after working on several hundred tabs. When it reopens I can go to the tabs I need to continue work on and only those will open.
After the crash, Only the Onetab tab was open, my 1250 tabs were gone and the Onetab showed no saved tabs. I tried using the standard Firefox "Restore All Tabs" function and it only opened 24 of my 1250 tabs, the rest were completely gone. I tried going to my History and copied all tabs from the last 7 days, but got 3,654 tabs, and I only worked on maybe 300 tabs in the last week. I then copied all tabs from the last month and got 7,359 tabs. While I've never copied tabs from the History section I've never seen numbers like that. I backup all tabs once per week to a bookmark file. When I copy all tabs from there it is always the exact number I have open, in the case of last weeks backup it was 2,641. Last week, as normal, I see it is that high and I go and close as many old research tabs as possible, so that is why this week it was down to 1250 tabs. But not Onetab, while a great concept has cost me the lost of one week of work. I could spend the entire rest of the day painfully going through the last weeks history and reopening every single lost tab, one by one, but this is so painful and I loose another full day of work.
UNINSTALLED, yet another Tab Add-On that causes crashes and corruptions, beware, if you use more then ten tabs as once, DO NOT INSTALL THIS ADD-ON.

- Rated 3 out of 5by BuenJ, a month agoI've been using OneTab daily for a long time without a problem, however since the last couple of updates I've experienced a complete wipeout of all my saved tabs twice. It seems that every time that the extension is updated, all saved tabs get wiped.
Many other users are reporting the exact same issue, however the response from the development team so far has been denial, blaming users, firefox, privacy software, etc.
Clearly something is broken, be cautious when using this extension and make sure to backup your tabs regularly (specially before applying updates). - Rated 1 out of 5by AG, a month agoIf my hard drive space drops below 10gb all my OneTab data wipes. It's happened twice.

posted a month agoHi, we've checked the Firefox source code, and Firefox will not evict any OneTab data due to low disk space.
The problem is probably that you are running some kind of privacy cleaner or system cleaner software which is trying to evict Firefox data, and is wiping extension data (including OneTab) at the same time. 'BleachBit' and 'Advanced SystemCare' are known to do this. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19045605, a month agoFirefox Donot even try! Once it is activated there is noway to get back to your original tab layout unless you have backed up Firefox! I was able to get it back because I also using Simple Tag Groups and was able to restore over 1600 tabs using the Simple Tab Groups backup/restore.

posted a month agoHi, you can do what you're describing.
By default, if you use Firefox tab groups, then each tab group will be stored separately, and can be restored separately.
If you want to store a whole window full of tab groups, and have the entire window restore at once with all of the tab groups inside, then you can do this by going to OneTab Options and choosing the "Send the current window to OneTab, including all tabs and tab groups" option. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18549406, a month ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by mtntech, 2 months agoHundreds of tabs up and disappeared. This is happening to a lot of users. OneTab Team says that is it Firefox doing it. Either way, this app is not compatible with Firefox. Do not use if you value your time and effort.

posted 2 months agoI'm sorry this happened. The problem isn't Firefox, it's software such as privacy cleaners, or disk corruptions, that can corrupt Firefox's data stores.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Koiebe, 2 months agoNB! DO NOT USE THIS GARBAGE OF an addon. Yesterday received some update and today months of work is gone forever - no DB backup no nothing! It is not coded well at all!
I DID not refreshed my Firefox, neither did some kind of cleaning of the browser or Windows whatsoever.
What a f%#king shame !!!
I do not see any reason why is recommended app by Firefox, when I read that clearly I'm not the only one affected.
And please developers, don't say it is Firefox fault. It is not the only add-on we use. You can read firefox code, and fix your own!Developer response

What happened was not a bug in OneTab. Firefox profiles can become corrupted, and then there is nothing we can do on our end.

posted 3 months agoHi, I'm sorry this happened. It's definitely not a bug in our code, though. Something is wiping Firefox's internal storage - it's pretty much impossible for us to accidentally write code that would suddenly just wipe the entire contents of the storage and then delete the entire OneTab database after that.
Some "privacy cleaner" software will wipe Firefox data, or it could have been a crash causing a disk write error that corrupted the storage areas. Firefox's "Refresh" feature also wipes clean the extension storage. Being low on disk space when the browser is trying to write to its databases can also cause corruption.- Rated 5 out of 5by Rio Chandra, 3 months agoI love this. It restore my RAM instantly (because all tabs are closed and save the link). Web version is easy to use, instant response, drag-n-drop everywhere. I suggest add Ctrl+z (cmd+z) to undo previous action (if user accidently delete link. Also I suggest add right-click action to directory for easy quick-action.

- Rated 5 out of 5by sdfds, 3 months agoit worked very well for me till some of the last updates, now when I open it via context menu the tab appears as the pinned leftmost one, and I have to perform a few additional clicks to unpin it and place as the rightmost one, where I usually need it. I just hope the developers will return the usual behavior of this function. All the rest features work well for my needs, thank you guys!
