- Rated 1 out of 5by enbyraccoon, a month agoI used to use this a lot, but now that it marks users negatively based on the personal views of the creators, rather than truthfully whether someone is actually known to be transphobic, means I cannot trust it anymore, so I unfortunately have to mark it poorly.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17580409, a month agoThis extension has the capacity to be misused to silence intersex people and its TOS considers bigotry against nonbinary & transmasc people to be permissible and not enough evidence to mark a person as anti-trans.
- Rated 1 out of 5by okzoomies, a month agoThis extension was once a very good tool to tell if someone was trans-safe at a glance. Now I'm immensely disappointed with the way it's being handled. Folks who discuss the aggression and oppression that trans men and intersex people experience unique to trans women are not transphobic and now the tool only pushes for community separatism, instead of community solidarity. Moderation needs to be overhauled severely.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18700720, a month agoWhat was once a useful extension has become a tool for transphobic bullying and is now useless for identifying actual transphobes OR people genuinely supportive and inclusive of all trans people.
People are marked red for talking about transphobia towards trans men, mascs and transneutrals (INCLUDING trans women speaking up in support) and for petty discourse reasons, yet people can stay marked green while spewing vile transphobia and intersexism as long as it's not about trans women the moderators agree with.
This gives people false impressions of not only potential transphobes, cutting off people who are genuinely supportive and inclusive, but have been marked red either by mass reports or for petty reasons or ARE trans but have an identity that the creators believe is innately transphobic for intersexist reasons, but also fools people into thinking that others are safe and exposing them to vitriolic transphobia towards transmascs, transneutrals and disagreeing transfems, and exclusionary rhetoric that only serves to promote separatism.
Extension might as well be rebranded as a TW(only)IRF identifying extension (that's fine with people using transphobic slang from 4chan as long as it isn't about trans women) since that's basically what it's become. - Rated 1 out of 5by lemonzest3333, a month ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by remidepointedulac, a month agowith the new guidlines of what is considered transphobic or not this extension has become functionally useless for social media so i've stopped using it. not to mention that even before the change of guidelines people were marked green for no reason. my main tumblr account is marked green and i dont even talk abt trans topics on there, all ive done is reblog gofundmes of trans women a couple times which shouldnt be enough to mark someone as green.
the extension works well for news websites though. - Rated 2 out of 5by IOC, a month agoRecent infighting has made this extension far less reliable. Trans people mark other trans people red for petty reasons constantly. It's really frustrating to have to gamble on if a red name is gonna have literal hate speech when you double check or if they just got into a fight with the wrong person.
I still think it's worth using, but you can't take any highlights at face value. You have to verify for yourself (which means you have to expose yourself to transphobia a whole lot). Better than nothing, but I really wish it wasn't treated like it's infallible. It's not. - Rated 2 out of 5by redrum, a month agoUsed to be good but now people are using this extension for completely stupid reasons such as marking other trans people and intersex people as 'anti-trans' for the crime of- *checks notes* talking about their own experiences?
I won't stop using this extension as it can be useful- but I may take that back if stuff like this continues. - Rated 1 out of 5by a_dislayed_name, a month agoI used to love this extension, unfortunately the developer(s) are now radfems and it has become basically useless and sometimes even actively harmful if you aren't one.
If you want to see proof of this, just look at the guidelines on this extensions homepage. "Theyfab", an anti-trans slur directed at afab nonbinary folks and even trans men (which is also notably misgendering) doesn't count as transphobic, but "AFAB trans woman" an identity most commonly held by intersex women apparently DOES count.
Why they are so against intersex, transmasculine, and nonbinary people is beyond me, but maybe that's because I don't participate in chronically online infighting and actually listen to trans and intersex people when they talk about their own oppression rather speaking over others in community trying to talk about theirs.
Edit: Also I looked through some other reviews and if you scroll far enough the developer has said some absolutely vile, disgusting radfem shit, including:
-Saying intersex trans woman are aligned with TERFs and appropriating trans women (read: appropriating 'real' women)
-Saying "binary trans woman" is disparaging against trans women who transition (read: transitioning == binary, and not transitioning == not a real woman)
-Replying to a review mentioning that trans men talking about their own issues have been falsely flagged red with 'promoting anti-trans values will get you flagged', (read: if you're a trans man stfu or else you're a terf)
So there's more proof the dev just blatantly fucking hates intersex people, nonbinaries, and trans men. While we're at it given the amount of trans bipoc I've seen falsely flagged it's also become a tool for white supremacy (though that's pretty much standard for radical feminists). All the more reason I have gladly uninstalled this thing. Hope there's a trans-friendly fork! - Rated 1 out of 5by misc, a month agoHonestly, I don't think I'll stop using this addon anytime soon, it's too useful. I can't really always be on the lookout for transphobia, I'm not going to stalk through everyone's twitter to know what they think about trans people, so this extension has been valuable for that reason. It's good to know who to *investigate* ... aaand that's my problem with the extension. It's only good for showing that the user marked red is very *likely* outwardly transphobic. It's not a guarantee.
I've seen transmisogynists be marked green. As in, radical feminists who dehumanize and misgender trans women, actual fascists, the like. On top of that, I'm seeing people who wouldn't misgender me or push for transphobia get marked red (intersex people, for one?) + users who have harassed trans women be marked green. I am legitimately wary of those who are marked green due to this, and have to investigate them on top of those marked red.
So if you use this extension, keep this in mind. Someone who's marked red might be trans-friendly, someone who's marked green might not be. Look for any dogwhistles on their page, as those are more telling than just being marked red. - Rated 1 out of 5by Luminol, a month agoI used to love using Shinigami Eyes as it was incredibly helpful, but it's turned into infighting slop lately and shows no signs of getting better. People simply speaking on their experiences or supporting all transgender people are being marked as transphobic while actual transphobia is getting pushed aside as just fine, actually. It's sad, honestly. Trans men and Intersex people are especially being hit hard—Something that brings me great concern for my transgender siblings.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17586921, a month agoused to be great but now it just marks anyone talking about intersexism and transphobia directed at transmasc people or non binary people as transphobic, completely defeating its purpose :/
- Rated 3 out of 5by Rexxie, a month agounfortunately cannot trust this extension to actually point out transphobes and terfs as it now also marks intersex and certain trans men who speak about their experience as transphobic.
- Rated 1 out of 5by ChicagoTwix, a month agoUsed to be good, but the mods support intersexism and transmisandry, supporting marking those talking about these issues as red. Their guidelines are also specifically okay with ace-phobia and racism. Borderline useless extension now.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Bird, a month agoBrigading has always been a problem with user-generated report systems, but this one was supposed to be better because of human validation of the input. The number of pro-trans sources marked as anti-trans for spurious reasons would show their "trustworthiness criteria" isn't the protective measure it's made out to be anymore.
ETA: Seems it is largely because it is abandoned. I can understand why the upkeep of such an extension would be taxing and hard to continue. It's just worth knowing this is not what it used to be, the brigades have taken over. - Rated 1 out of 5by fen, a month agoive used this add-on for an incredibly long time. it was useful, especially for news sources. however, you see it most used, of course, on social media.
originally the guide for this extension was that it was not for "infighting". i have my own issues with what was considered "infighting" vs "real transphobia", and was willing to extend the benefit of the doubt. it has become obvious that is no longer the case. regardless of your opinions on "the discourse", the latest swathes of trans and/or intersex people being marked red for no discernible reason other than *checks notes* being "special snowflakes"?????? for talking about their oppression? for being upset at being called 4chan slurs? well. it's obviously lost its appeal.
the extension is now completely useless. it is being used to mark out who the developers think are on the "right side" rather than a helpful indicator of an institution's beliefs. don't waste your time. - Rated 1 out of 5by Cal, a month ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by cmg, a month agoEDIT: because I have been seeing the developer replies, no intersex trans women or transfems assigned female at birth literally call themselves "AFAB transfem" including the AGAB in the identity. **But it is something they could be, and thats worth talking about** any intersex transfem online could have an F on her birth certificate and had to transition to live as a woman due to intersex puberty & even forceful reassignment in childhood. As an XtM intersex man I support my XtF intersex sisters. (X in this case because plenty of intersex people consider categorizing their bodies as M/F pre-transition to be inaccurate to their physiology, not because they were literally assigned X) cisgender and transgender weren't made for us. The only way we can use these terms to express our lived experiences is to use them "incorrectly", and frankly, intersex people's labels aren't something you get a say on if you are perisex. Good day.
I used to use this as a great resource to determine which publications were trustworthy on trans issues, until it was wrongfully used against me because a handful of people disliked my demands for proper intersex inclusion.
I am an intersex activist who often talks about my struggles feeling welcome in the trans community, and about the way non-intersex trans folks could be better allies to us and our community. I run a blog where I spread useful and important information about intersex issues, I boost trans voices, and I all around am very passionate in my fight for the liberation of sex variant people of all sort. I'm against binary categorization of both gender and "biological sex". I talk about the ways in which intersex people often have "confusing" identities, I myself would consider myself cis and trans simultaneously; an identity that is incredibly connected to my messy intersex socialization. This seems to be the reason I was marked anti-trans, under the idea that my actual lived experience as an intersex person is an ""obvious troll identity"",
I've been marked red. In a conscious and calculated attempt to keep my voice as an intersex person away from trans people, my natural allies, who need to hear it the most. Good idea for an extension, terrible execution. - Rated 1 out of 5by demon_dog, a month agoReally getting quite frustrated that myself and my friends are ranked as 'trans unfriendly' because we have the audacity to say that trans men experience oppression, while not saying anything negative about any other trans person. This is not a tool for helping you avoid transphobes as advertised. They even don't include slurs used against nonbinary people (such as 'theyfab') in their criteria for being 'trans unfriendly'.
EDIT: Also forgot to mention, there is a lot of intersexism in the guidelines, citing the way that intersex people talk about their oppression - which would help liberate trans people also - as inherently transphobic. I don't like using this term, really, but this is not an add-on for helping you weed out transphobes, it is an app for helping you create a perisex (non-intersex) trans fem only echo chamber. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18700418, a month agoSeems to have little to no moderation. I keep seeing users who are marked red or green despite not fitting the guidelines described on the extension's website. It seems like it would be extremely easy for someone to abuse this.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18700333, a month agoOnce a useful tool for avoiding transphobia online, now completely useless because the people in charge of deciding who is marked red and who is marked green are so caught up in intracommunity infighting that theyve started marking other trans people as unsafe, for reasons as trivial and insignificant as "dared to talk about their own experiences with transphobia in a way i didn't like". I frequently see people spewing the most vile, transphobic, indistinguishable-from-jk-rowling transphobia marked as green on shinigami eyes, but because its directed at trans men and nonbinary people, its A-OK! meanwhile the most trans-accepting people in the world are marked as red because they *don't* openly hate trans men and nonbinary people. The guidelines openly state that use of slurs originating from 4chan nazis specifically to refer to transmascs and nonbinary people are not enough to warrant being marked red. In which case, what's the point? Is this not intended to tell you who is and is not transphobic? How is "using transphobic slurs" not enough to warrant being marked transphobic? Truly a useless extension. But honestly, it was kind of doomed to fail from the beginning.
