- Rated 5 out of 5by halperdude, 2 years agoThis functionality should be built into Firefox Bookmarks. I'm very grateful this add-on exists. Was driving myself mad right clicking the item i searched and then clicking show in folder. Now if only there was an add-on to find duplicates in folders... haha
- Rated 4 out of 5by kiwichick, 2 years agoI have just started using this and I absolutely love it, especially being able to see which folder a bookmark is saved in. The only issues I have found so far are:
1) I have 'Remember size of resizeable objects' checked but the search pane isn't permanent (it is with the bookmark Properties window). If I close then re-open the bookmarks sidebar, the search resize is lost. If I choose another entry from the sidebar dropdown (eg: Bookmarks, History) then return to BSP2, the search resize is lost. There is nothing in Options that says this is expected behaviour so, if it is, can a note please be added to specify this.
2) Closing and reopening the bookmark sidebar, or choose another entry from the sidebar dropdown and returning to BSP2, doesn't retain the scroll position in the bookmark list.
IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY:
1) Thank you for investigating.
2) No, you are not misunderstanding. I see that the scroll returns to center. That's all good if it's expected behaviour. At least it hasn't been scrolled out of view.Developer response
posted 2 years agoHello kiwichick, thank you for the feedback.
On 1), that was working in the past -> I see this is not working anymore,
I will investigate.
On 2), the cursor position (= selected bookmark) is retained and shown again when opening. FF and CSS center the view on it, so that might be a little different scrolling position than when quitting, but this should be close enough. Am I misunderstanding what you are saying ?
Note: for reporting issues / bugs, the best is to open them there -> https://github.com/aaFn/Bookmark-search-plus-2/issues
since then it is easy to follow up and to discuss, and to make sure that I can properly address them (this is hard to do on this add-on comment page).
============ update 17/01/2023 ===========
On 1), problem investigated, this was indeed a regression, fixed in 2.0.112 now published.
Thank you.
On 2), ok, thank you, yes this is the best behavior that can be easily achieved with GUI/presentation functions available to the add-on. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17530236, 2 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17659240, 2 years agoWhen you have a forest of book marks like I do you will lose track of where certain bookmarks are, and this is the only extension I've found so far that helps you find them. Can't imagine life without it!
- Rated 5 out of 5by GD, 2 years agoThank you for your labor of love, aaFn! It's great for finding those stray bookmarks. Can it also search on the Tag field?
Developer response
posted 2 years agoHello GD, sorry for the delay, unfortunately, the Firefox Web API doesn't give access to tags, as explained in the "About tags and keywords" section of the add-on page https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bookmark-search-plus-2/ - Rated 5 out of 5by LenkoeGafane, 2 years ago

Location: chrome://browser/content/webext-panels.xhtml
Line Number 1, Column 1"
Update: Restarting Firefox cured the issue. - Rated 5 out of 5by BillPigg, 3 years agoI've been using this add-on for several years and don't know what I would do without it. It is excellent in pretty much all ways. One thing that really bugs me though is the small window when right clicking and selecting a bookmark's "properties". I have to always make the window larger to even see the save button. --> IS THERE A SETTING SOMEWHERE TO SET THE SIZE OF THE PROPERTIES WINDOW? I am not afraid of about:config or editing chrome.
Developer response
posted 3 years agoHello @BillPigg, yes, in the Options page, in the "User Interface" section, you will find the "Remember size of resizeable objects - search pane, edit bookmark property, history .." option.
Just enable it, and it will remember the last size of the window when you closed it, to reopen it exactly with same size. - Rated 5 out of 5by SkyHook, 3 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16792125, 3 years agoYou say that: "When closing search, the initial expansion state of open/closed folders is restored". This doesnt happen to my case. After close BSP2 and then open it again ,the folders remain expanded as they were before close BSP2 , and have to close them manually. So what settings must apply to do that ?
Developer response
posted 3 years agoHello, to make sure we are talking the same thing, "when closing search" means "when clicking on the cancel button" at right of the search box (the little cross). This is not closing BSP2 itself.
So the statement is on bookmark panel displayed inside BSP2, below the search results panel, and not on the FF native sidebar, which no add-on can modify nor interact with.
Now, there are options in BSP2 options page, disabled by default (you should verify in your case), to adjust behavior of staying open or not. See "After show bookmark ..." options in the Search results section, and modify to your taste.
Hope this is what you are looking for, else open an issue on https://github.com/aaFn/Bookmark-search-plus-2/issues.
Thank you, aaFn. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17301017, 3 years agoAwesome - Finally able to Search for a Folder by name. How this is not natively supported is beyond me but this Add-on is great for keeping up with Folders.

- Rated 4 out of 5by freesailor, 3 years agoVery good, fast and easy to use.
The feature I miss the most is the ability to mark multiple bookmarks to move them all together from one folder to another.Developer response
posted 3 years agoHello @freesailor, now multiple bookmarks selection is possible, since version 2.0.103 :-) ! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17202780, 3 years ago

Super.
This also allows you to have two instances of BSP2 side by side to drag from one to the other, to arrange your bookmarks more easily.
