- Rated 3 out of 5by jarome, 7 years agoI have 72000+ bookmarks. Your check always dies before the end. Alas.

posted a year agoCan you please test again in a current version and re-review? Thanks! - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 11571316, 7 years ago1. Well looking for duplicates and problem names + 1 stars. 2. There is no button to stop checking the bookmarks. If you close the tab, then the process continues and helps to unload the browser through the task manager - minus the star. 3. Does not display what errors occurred when connecting, namely 404, 505, etc. - minus the star. 4. There are no settings for the number of requests to the site when checking - minus one star.

posted a year agoWhy do you need a setting fo the number of requests? It does not really makes sense for the way how this add-on works.
Can you please file feature requests on GitHub? Thanks! - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13198653, 7 years agoHi,
after a bad XMark sync all my bookmarks were doubled so I wanted to use this addon to remove the 3000 duplicated bookmarks. It also detects them and displays them but I have to click to delete for every single bookmark.
Please, add a button to delete all duplicates at once!Developer response
posted 7 years agoThank you for your feedback. Will be added in a future update, late 2017 or start of 2018. - Rated 4 out of 5by Chip, 7 years agoWorks for me on the current FF. One question - the 3 little green dots are always active? It makes me wonder if the app is never finished processing if they never stop moving.

posted a year agoCan you please test if you still have this issue in a current version? Thank you! - Rated 4 out of 5by Hoggy, 7 years agoAs another reviewer was saying, things may work better if the dup check is done first.
If you check broken links first, it may hang.Developer response
posted a year agoThere is no relation between these two features so I guess it's some kind of placebo. - Rated 4 out of 5by Phylis, 7 years agoVery intuitive. But took me a bit to get use to the large split screen. Only problem was I had to disable it to get back to normal window. Perhaps because I'm using an older version of FF (v. 52.0.1 (64 bit) on Win 10.

posted 7 years agoThank you for your feedback. But you really should not use old Firefox version with security problems… By the way, the next version of Bookmarks Organizer will require Firefox 57 or higher. - Rated 4 out of 5by andrew, 7 years agoFor some reason, it always recognizes https://transfer.sh/ as error.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12374321, 7 years agoThe guy who posted the previous review was referring to the forever looping logo animation overlay that prevents you to even delete the 1 duplicate it finds (though you can do it manually via library)
https://github.com/cadeyrn/bookmarks-organizer/issues/48 since Aug 14
Or another one with a screenshot https://github.com/cadeyrn/bookmarks-organizer/issues/46 since Aug 7
The broken search sometimes does work sometimes won't finish , from what i understand there is a needed api that is not yet available (atleast on the stable ffx release)
This extension has potential when the 57 hits , looking foward to test it (no new update rip rating)Developer response
posted a year agoThis issue is fixed since a long time. Can you please test again and re-review? - Rated 2 out of 5by Proft, 7 years agoWhat's the point of finding duplicates if you can't go through the list and choose which ones to delete?
I've got 8200+ bookmarks and the "broken" bookmark detector has been running for over 10 minutes with absolutely no progress indication.
There are other, more feature-rich bookmark managers out there...uninstalling this add-on.Developer response
posted 7 years agoSorry, but I would never give bad reviews without contacting the developer about possible problems. I have more than 5,000 bookmarks and the add-on works for me.
And you can see the features of the add-on in the description and in the screenshots here on addons.mozilla.org. So I can't see where there should be a potential for surprises regarding features. If you have a feature request, please open a ticket on GitHub.
So it does NOT MAKE SENSE AT ALL to say "There are other, more feature-rich bookmark managers out there" because it does not make sense to install add-ons if you already know that the add-on is not what you want.
Some people… - Rated 4 out of 5by CanIregisterThisTime, 7 years agoI had written a review that perhaps wasn't fair and I apologize to the developer. I deleted the old one. This is a new review.
Regarding the scan locking up, I think if you have a lot of duplicate bookmarks, what you need to do is start by dealing with those before you have it look for dead links. Once I did that, it went much more quickly when looking for the dead links and it did complete the scan. This extension also worked to fix redirects and stuff. You have to look over each one because it did find some false positives, which is natural and I think it even said to be careful in the dialogue itself. Can't remember for sure, but just don't blindly click your way through this stuff.
I don't know how I had so many duplicates, but it would have been nice to have had a way to select them in bulk. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13245296, 7 years agoEndlich mal eine SW die tut was sie verspricht. Einfach und gut; was kann ich mehr sagen!
Moechte das Addon auch als .xpi file downloaden, aber wie???
Gerne einen Hinweis.

Zum Download: Rechtsklick auf den grünen Download-Button und Ziel speichern unter. ;) - Rated 1 out of 5by oc48, 7 years agoAfter installing the add-on, I restarted FF 52.3.0 (running Mac OS X 10.11.6). Then I chose "broken bookmarks" and the add-on found 140.063 (yes 140 thousands!) bookmarks. Then I clicked on "check bookmark" and after 5 minutes I saw 211 checked but after 20 minutes the number of items checked was still 211. No numbers in warmings and errors fields. The add on is still working because I see in the middle of the window 3 circles moving ... and I cannot have any feedback nor choose any other option (like "duplicates", for instance). I'm (sadly) going to remove the add on ...unless I can have any suggestion to have the add on working ... I can't ever rate this add on...maybe too much bookmarks?

posted 7 years agoSorry that you have problems. But there is an issue tracker where you can report bugs. AMO reviews are NOT for bug reports…
And yes, no one can expect that Firefox can handle the opening of 140.000 websites at the same time… - Rated 5 out of 5by EffPeh, 7 years agoHm. Also grundsätzlich scheint das Add-On seinen Job zu erledigen, bleibt aber auch bei mir bei der Überprüfung des letzten Lesezeichens hängen. Keine Ahnung, warum.
- Rated 1 out of 5by SoundHound, 7 years ago- Restarted FF after installing.
- Opened the Firefox extension.
- Selected Broken Bookmarks.
- Selected Check Bookmarks...
- It scanned 4979 bookmarks.
- It identified 1453 warnings.
- It also identified 381 errors.
THEN NOTHING - (waited for 12 minutes)
The 'dot' progress indicator kept moving.
Selected Duplicates > Check Bookmarks.
Nothing !
Selected Missing Bookmark Names > Check Bookmarks.
Nothing !Developer response
posted 7 years agoIt works for me with more than 5000 bookmarks. I can't find your bug report on GitHub. I never give one star reviews without reaching out to the developer in case of problems… - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13232843, 7 years agoSehr gut und logisch aufgebaut, schlicht und übersichtlich im Design, funktioniert einwandfrei.
Der derzeit beste Bookmark-Checker. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13227442, 7 years agoHallo,
Überprüft = 1063
Warnungen = 433
Fehler = 147
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13147762, 7 years agoWorks great, and finds http to https redirects :)
A built in bookmark sort function would be nice - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13084082, 7 years agoThank You for perfect "Bookmarks Organizer" and for the operating answer. I ask You a pardon - at repeated starting was found, what, nevertheless, commands "Edit" and "Delete" appear at induction of the mouse for all items, EXCEPT FOR the first item. (What for with the mouse?). To tell the truth, hand-handling of hundreds items is difficult. It would be nice, if it would be possible to define an main-folder ("Collection"). It for READ-ONLY. And to check other bookmarks on secondariness in relation to a main-folder. Then by the additional command to delete automatically its duplicates from other folders. Forgive my unattention. Thank's.
!!! NOW IT IS NOT ACTUAL : (The script has checked up all mine 2783 bookmarks on doubles. Has detected 681 error. Now a green asterisk with three running points. And doesn't offer any further operations. The naked list in some hundreds items on which there is NO possibility of handling).Developer response
posted 7 years agoThank you for your suggestion. Could you please file an issue on GitHub so that I still know in a few days / weeks about your feature request?
Thanks. - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 12849453, 8 years agoIm not singling this addon out, literally every "book mark cleaner/organiser" that says it can detect dead pages fails in my experience.
Out of 1945 bookmarks it flagged 628 as warnings, and 10 errors. So, as with every bookmark checker/organiser ive tried I went through and checked manually...kinda defeating the purpose, and found 1 dead link
In this day and age with so many dynamically generated pages, im guessing we cant really expect anything to be 100%, but this was way off. I noticed almost all the warnings URLs were wanting to merely correct http:// to https://, is this really worth alarming a user with a huge number for...I don't think so. The remote website will switch to https:// automatically in most cases anyways. If people are that worried they should install https everywhere....
Post dev feedback reply:
You can mark my review as "invalid feedback - read the description before installing an add-on" all you like, my feedback is valid, and it stands.
And to quote you: "And you can read in the add-on's description that it's a feature of the add-on"
Show me where in the description it says it will want to redirect all http:// sites to https:// ....madness as most links are going to be http:// by default and should be left alone. Certainly no reason to mark them as "warnings" and want to tamper with them.Developer response
posted 8 years agohttp->https redirects are marked as warnings and not as errors, so I don't get your point. That's a FEATURE not a BUG. I know that a lot of users WANT to correct redirects. There was a long beta phase before the official release and there are more than enough users loving this feature. And you can read in the add-on's description that it's a feature of the add-on. If you don't want to see the redirect, you can hide these with ONE CLICK. So you have no reason to complain because of this feature. - Rated 3 out of 5by RussL, 8 years agoBeen trying to use the Duplicates feature with FF 52.0.2 and even reverted to FF 52.0.0 but just goes into limbo (edit: process' all bookmarks but doesn't finish/end routine) and never gives an option to fix/edit.

posted 8 years agoBookmarks Organizer 2.0 has been released. Could you please test again? Thank you! :) - Rated 4 out of 5by gizmecano, 8 years agoThis extension looks promising (peculiarly to replace something like Bookmarks Checker, which is now deprecated).
The only important feature which is currently missing is the ability to select only one or more folders (rather than all the bookmarks as currently).
Moreover (although this point is minor), the new brand icon lacks of contrast and becomes virtually invisible with a slightly dark theme.Developer response
posted 8 years agoHi,
thank you for your feedback. A multi selection of bookmarks is already planned for a future update.
Regarding the icon, it was tested with the default theme, default compact light theme and with the default compact dark theme from Mozilla. It's good visible on all these themes. But it's not possible to chose an icon which looks great on *all* themes because I can only define one icon for all themes. ;) - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13071606, 8 years agoI run 2 machines 1 Linux Ubuntu 17.04, one 16.04.
The 17.04 ran well, however, it keeps spitting out links as redirects even though they are the same exact address. That's not a big deal, but I had to run it several times to get broken links completely. As for slow internet being a problem...thats not exactly right. I ran the 17.04 machine that had 1400+ bookmarks and it ran pretty quickly (did seem to hang on the last 20 though). When that machine was done I went to the other machine which has same internet connection and 1843 bookmarks and after 15mins it has scanned 15, so its not internet (I verified all was ok with my connection which is very fast). The only difference is that the machine that went fast is fairly new with 16 gigs of memory while the one that doesnt seem to want to get past 15 has only 4 and a slower processor. This tells me there may be a problem hogging memory. I hope this helps the author of this add on since I have been searching for something just like this for a long time. Thank you for your work so far!
Edit: I created a new clean profile with this add on as the only add on with the slow machine and imported my bookmarks and its working, so there must be a compatibility issue with other add onsDeveloper response
posted 8 years agoThis issue has been fixed in Bookmarks Organizer 2.0. It would be great if you could test (and maybe review) again. Thank you! :) - Rated 5 out of 5by Bout's Morgan, 8 years agoImpressed, it found many bookmarks with http and suggested me https, that was exact !!! Minimum 5 stars.
Bookmarks Organizer 1.2.0 available on June 4.
Nice and fast. Important: Disable NoScript, it causes me some false warnings.
