About this extension
Color Code Picker shows you the exact color of any pixel on a webpage - the real pixel, read straight from the screen, not a guess from the page's CSS.
Click the toolbar icon (or press Alt+C), move the magnifier over anything - text, images, gradients, canvas graphics - and click. You get the color as HEX, RGB and HSL, each with a one-click Copy button.
What you get
- Magnifier lens with a pixel grid, so you can land on exactly the pixel you want
- Arrow keys move the lens one pixel at a time; Enter picks
- Exact colors on every screen: HiDPI displays, Windows scaling (125%, 150%), browser zoom and pinch-zoom
- Scroll while picking - the picker refreshes itself so colors always match what is on screen
- HEX, RGB and HSL with copy buttons (press C to copy the HEX value)
- Contrast check: the WCAG contrast ratio against white and black text
- Auto palette: four matching harmony colors for every pick
- History of your last 6 colors, shared across all tabs
- "Pick Color Again" (or press P) to keep going
- Esc or right-click cancels at any time
PDFs and local files
PDFs open in a built-in PDF viewer (Mozilla's pdf.js) so you can pick colors straight from the PDF, in the same tab. Local files (images and PDFs opened from your computer) are picked from an exact snapshot of the page.
Private by design
Everything happens inside your browser. The screenshot used to read pixel colors never leaves your computer, nothing is uploaded, there are no analytics and no accounts. Your color history is stored only in your browser.
