by Firefox user 14453400, 8 years agoFirefox becomes unusable as I only have 4 GB of RAM and it keeps freezing and is otherwise slow with this. Manjaro Linux OS. When disabling Firefox is normal again.

- Rated 1 out of 5by 99, 3 hours agoUsed this extension for many years and loved it. I had to remove it recently as it was severely slowing down my web pages. sad
- by far the most polished dark mode addon, for most people this is the one you want to use. unfortunately for mobile users who prefer to browse x.com (formerly twitter) with adblock instead of through the android x app, this extension will slow your phone to a crawl after a few hours of browsing, forcing you to clear data and quit firefox. long story short: this is a great extension, but it's not updated regularly enough for anyone to consider donating, it's clearly abandonded. check out "Dark Background and Light Text" by Mikhail Khvoinitsky for an alternative darkmode extension on Firefox
- Rated 2 out of 5by NSEW, 4 days agoIt breaks too often and when it does it locks up your browser for an extended period of time.
It struggles on far too many websites and ultimately slows down the majority of website load times. Things once blinked to load and this extension makes them hang.
Sad because it use to work a whole lot better, but I find myself disabling it more and more to the point Im wondering why I even keep it. I also think this is the cause for locking up the entire browser every once in a great while. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19943344, 4 days ago

- Rated 2 out of 5by InternetPerson, 7 days agoIf this isnt updated to run with reddit I'm going somewhere else. This month this addon has been crashing my browser.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 16143547, 8 days agoWorks on most sites, though there's currently a memory leak issue when using it on Reddit. Memory usage climbs to 6GB+ for a single tab. I'll update my rating if it's ever fixed.
- Rated 2 out of 5by CaptainYellow, 9 days agoSlows down reddit to the point that it becomes completely unstable and cant load new content
- Rated 4 out of 5by Kelly Bryan, 9 days agoReally solid extension. Clean and lightweight, fits perfectly into my workflow. Does exactly what it promises.

- Rated 2 out of 5by gleb-yukhymenko, 10 days agoFrom my experience of using the extension, the add-on seems to be unsatisfactory at best, and unusable at worst. For instance, basically every site that I visited had the logo at the lop-left corner of the screen blend in with the background in terms of color. It will also sometimes just not work as expected, and by sometimes I mean almost all of the sites that I visit. Even the site on which I'm writing this review (addons(dot)mozilla(dot)org/) is in white mode while running the extension. You should really fix your utility before asking users to donate $10 (which happens immediately, mind you).

- Rated 3 out of 5by Webzilla, 17 days agoWith the latest Firefox update (version 150.0.2, May 7, 2026), this extension causes slow-down in the Reddit website, and only there. Screen updates lag or become unresponsive for long durations on the Reddit site. Firefox then shows a notification bar right below the address bar saying Dark Reader is causing the slowdown. Please fix if you can.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 19918529, 18 days agoWorks pretty well, but they broke something with the most recent update, and it's causing a huge memory leak. I had to go back to 4.9.124
