- Rated 1 out of 5by levdr, 7 years agoI've been using Disconnect in Firefox for years on my Mac. It was brilliant. Today I finally went to Firefox Quantum, reinstalled Disconnect but it doesn't work any more. There's just a green Jigsaw icon that doesn't do anything.
I reported this problem with FF Quantum a year or so ago and it seems the problem has not been fixed. What a pity. Removed the add-on. As it doesn't work any longer my 5 star rating goes to 1. I'm so sorry.Developer response
posted 7 years agoThank you for taking the time to share what you're seeing with our extension as that is definitely not normal. We have had reports of some users encountering issues with the extension, and we've been digging into this issue to get to the bottom of what is going on for these users. - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 13115620, 7 years agoDisconnect always used to block ads. Then a year or so ago it stopped working with Firefox. After a very long period of time it re-appeared, fixed. Trouble is now it lets ads through when a page loads, but when the page is refreshed the ads disappear. So I don't know whether it's stopping sites tracking me, which I guess is its core purpose.
Edit (Oct 29): Tried re-installing, didn't fix it.
March 15, 2018: Any progress on a fix for this? I've been very patient.Developer response
posted 7 years agoThank you for sharing your experience, and that is very strange. While our extension does not block all ads, it is designed to block those that are privacy invasive. If you haven't, you may want to uninstall then reinstall the extension to be sure it's properly set up since you've had trouble with the extension previously as well. - Rated 5 out of 5by Great King, 7 years agoThanks for this addon. Still tweaking, but it does what it's intended for...

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13305583, 7 years agoI use this in combination with Adblock Plus and it does a great job with blocking trackers while not negatively impacting performance. Great add-on!
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13304330, 7 years agoI've just found out about Disconnect through an old LH article, but when I want to install, it wants a shitload of permissions to my tabs and data. Some explanation would be nice. Written by a techie, not by a marketer, please.
Also, reading through a couple of reviews, I find the developer replies are not written by a dev but clearly by a 'communicator', they are typical corporate responses. This makes you sound like an advertising company, not like a bunch of geeks I would trust.
Prove me wrong, I challenge thee.
Sidenote, AMO won't let me post a review without a rating, so I went for the middle ground here. Not gonna dock you points without having used your stuff, but obviously can't give you full score either for the very same reason.Developer response
posted 7 years agoOur Disconnect private browsing extension exposes an API that allows us to redirect connections on websites you visit to about:blank. The extension tells your browser to look for requests that match our blacklist and redirect them, thus preventing them from connecting and being able to track you.
For all of our products, as per our privacy policy (https://disconnect.me/privacy), we do not store IP addresses, DNS lookups, sites/addresses accessed, or anything else. We also never collect any personal information other than what you choose to share, like an email address if you write in for support. - Rated 5 out of 5by ArcticViper, 7 years agoCompared to Ghostery it's much better, it blocks trackers automatically, doesn't have a big impact on Performance, Easy GUI, Just plan easy to use. :)
- Rated 1 out of 5by glnz2, 7 years agoAll I get is the puzzle piece.
dom.storage.enabled is True.
dom.storagemanager.enabled is false.
I will NOT allow cookies as my default position on CookieMonster - no way.
I even tried UNinstalling AdBlockPlus before installing Disconnect but does not help.
Please fix.
I have left Disconnect UNinstalled for now.Developer response
posted 7 years agoThank you for letting us know what you're seeing. We have had reports of some odd issues with the extension not displaying properly, and our team is digging into what could be causing this trouble for the users who see it so we can make sure everyone is able to use our extension. - Rated 2 out of 5by grahamperrin, 7 years agoI used Disconnect (alongside Privacy Badger) for a few weeks.
Too many parts of the GUI are ambiguous so today I disabled the extension.Developer response

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13216454, 7 years agoThis add-on is very useful for privacy. It's open-source and easy-to-use.
That said, it doesn't function at all if Firefox is set not to store any cookies or DOM storage (please fix!); it simply displays an inactive puzzle piece. Also, it could be improved with a 'block everything by default' option for those who want to do so.
Other than that, it's a wonderful add-on that is well-worth installing.Developer response
posted 7 years agoThank you for taking the time to share your feedback on this. We are looking into how we can alter the extension to work correctly without needing these settings. We're also looking to add the option for users to universally block Content, understanding that this may cause some websites not to load properly. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13138495, 7 years ago

posted 7 years agoThank you for your kind words, and Disconnect does include the protection of Disconnect Facebook. With Disconnect, you do not need to have Disconnect Facebook installed to be protected. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 11486310, 7 years agoUsing with firefox on my laptop and pc.
