Privacy Policy — Domain Notes
Effective date: 2026-10-03
Domain Notes works locally in Firefox. The developer cannot see your notes. The add-on does not transmit user data to the developer or any external service, and has no analytics, telemetry, advertising SDK, remote API, cloud account, remote JavaScript, or extension-initiated network requests.
Data stored on your device: note content and supported formatting; per-domain layout, visibility, and writing direction; theme and accent preferences; an internal random authentication token for the isolated editor handshake; and local revision counters that prevent stale edits from overwriting notes.
Website permissions are optional and requested only when you enable a site or global display. They place the launcher on permitted HTTP/HTTPS pages. They are not used to collect browsing history or website content for transmission.
User-initiated backup export creates a local, unencrypted JSON file containing notes and preferences. It excludes internal authentication, revision counters, and Firefox permission grants. Import reads the selected file and sanitizes its contents.
Domain Notes does not encrypt local storage or backups. People or software with access to your device, browser profile, or exported files may read them. Device backups or cloud-folder services may copy these files independently of the add-on.
The add-on is disabled in Private Browsing. Opening a note link is normal browser navigation to that destination.
The editor uses an extension-origin iframe so ordinary website scripts cannot directly read its document or receive its keyboard events. A hostile page can still hide, move, cover, or replace the on-page UI. Use the separate note manager on untrusted pages. A compromised device is outside this protection.
Uninstalling removes extension storage according to Firefox behavior; exported backups remain wherever you saved them.
