Enhancer for YouTube™ by Max RF

by Raiden, 3 years agoThe dark mode of this addon completely darkens Youtube's info pages such as this page: (https://www.youtube.com/intl/en_us/howyoutubeworks/our-commitments/managing-harmful-content/) turns it into pitch black — both background and text is the same color, rendering the whole thing unreadable. Dark mode should have either been properly set up to work on those type of places on the YT site, or else the addon should have disabled the dark mode and allowed the pages to auto-revert to Youtube's default. Instead "Enhancer" breaks the webpage.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 18125419, 5 hours agoWorks great but it does not work while using a User Agent Switcher which is a bit sad since youtube is close to unusable without one to fake Chrome.
And using youtube without this extension is also awful nowadays with all those shorts taking up space. - Rated 2 out of 5by Sin Shadow Fox, 10 hours agoIt seems a glitch deleted my review so I'm reposting to keep users up to date.
Used to be a great extension, almost mandatory. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem that's causing some users to be unable to update to the newer version of the extension (trapping them on version 2.0.121) and this older version is starting to not work anymore. It's probably a good idea to not install until the problem has been fixed.
I'm in currently talking with the dev team via email to find a solution (future update, about:config edit, "unpacked extension") but communication seems to be tricky. I'll update this review when i have confirmation on a fix. - Rated 1 out of 5by VedicStore.com, 2 days agoFor years this extension worked very good. Lately or a week now, its working in part. I can control the volume with the mouse, but the Video player Control disappeared. I tried uninstalling, re-installing, clear cache, reinstall firefox and then redo everything, still the issue the is same. Basic features disappeared or are not working. I read reviews here, some comments talk about this but not similar issues.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Manny, 4 days agoI love it, youtube videos that starts at a low default volume instead of blasting me out of my seat. Awesome !

- Rated 4 out of 5by Elucid, 5 days agoQuite enjoy this extension. I have noticed the button for rewinding the video to the left of the pause button remains visible for me even when the video bar hides, though it could be due to my many other youtube visual scripts. Also the older update had a much less noticeable opaque box behind the controls that I preferred; an option to adjust the opacity like with the cinema mode would be nice.

No widgets even load or show up at all. I removed it and re-installed to no avail. I will disable it for now and use another extension until the issues get ironed out.
Developer response
posted 5 days agoMaybe another extension prevents it from working as expected. Check if it's the case, otherwise you can install a previous version if it works better for you: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/enhancer-for-youtube/versions/ - Rated 5 out of 5by Daniel V. - Rated 4 out of 5by kimmo, 6 days agoBeen using this for years, a must-have!
One recent bug - occasionally when using the playback speed wheel while a video is playing, then navigating to another open browser tab, the video will return to 1x speed and won't be able to be altered without refreshing the page. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12900474, 6 days agoThe control bar reappeared after I turned off Cloudflare Warp, very strange.
Developer response
posted 5 days agoYes, very strange since the extension's files are all packaged and bundled directly within the extension itself. They're included in the distributed add-on package and loaded locally by the browser at runtime, so there are no external file dependencies or remote resources. - Rated 5 out of 5by Humbug, 7 days ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Azal, 8 days agoGood for everything, only issue is that on every device i've used the firefox version on the audio breaks above 8x speed
Developer response
posted 5 days agoThis is not an issue caused by the extension. The audio is most likely muted at the browser or site level. - Rated 5 out of 5by queza, 8 days ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Takuma, 9 days agoEdit : There is another(4th) issue that I have that isn't tied to the latest update that I had to deal with for a while when youtube changed things. The extension is automatically turned off if the tab is refreshed or, for another example, if you restarted your computer and firefox automatically opens to where you left off. Usually I can get around this by going to youtube's homepage and then hitting back.
Edit 2: Issue 1 and 2 are fixed and Comments are working again, rumors seems to suggests that its tied to something youtube was doing. Issue 4 still exists but is not something I think would be worth nocking off 2 stars for so I am changing the score to 4 stars.Developer response
posted 5 days agoI can't reproduce your issues 1 and 2. You can reinstall an older version if it works better for you: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/enhancer-for-youtube/versions/
For issue 3, check under Options > Appearance > Hide comments (maybe you enabled it by inadvertence)
For issue 4, not tested but it must be due to how Firefox loads extensions on restart. - Rated 4 out of 5by Anonymous3256324, 9 days agoMissing "Videos per row" feature!!
Please add the "Videos per row" option (under Appearance) to the Firefox version! It works great on Chrome and it’s the only thing missing here. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19397256, 9 days ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Nikamin, 10 days agoNever had a problem with the extension until now, since the last update when i am in full screen mode the video isn't taking the full screen space (3840*2160) , instead i have a grey border that i can't seem to remove.
Edit: Changing my review to 5 stars because I now think this issue comes from Youtube itself and not the add-on
Beside this issue the add-on is great, as i said never had any problem for years before Youtube decided to mess up the UI.Developer response
posted 10 days agoI can't reproduce your issue, but other users have reported it too so it's probably another UI experiment on YouTube. Did you reload the YouTube tabs, or your browser?
The debug info file could help: https://www.mrfdev.com/how-to-debug-enhancer-for-youtube - Rated 5 out of 5by Alex, 10 days agoThanks for great extension. Thanks for returning to firefox addons portal. For those who are having trouble with the extension, please check if the "User Agent Switcher" extension is installed - they do not work together.
