About this extension
With Forget Me, choose what Firefox keeps after your visit.

Keep cookies and preferences for the sites you want to return to, and schedule cleanup for the others when your visit ends.

From the extension icon, choose a rule for each site:
  • K — Keep: Forget Me leaves the site’s data in place, with no automatic cleanup.
  • F — Forget on close: cleanup of cookies and supported storage is scheduled ten seconds after closing the site’s last tab, or navigating away from the site in that last tab. If you return during this delay, cleanup is cancelled.
  • NR — No rule: no automatic cleanup applies unless you choose F mode.

Rules apply to the site, including its subdomains. The managed sites list lets you review your choices and remove a rule.

The “Forget now” button starts immediate cleanup, even for a site set to Keep, without changing its rule. A report shows the last cleanup time, cookies deleted, remaining cookies when verification is available, and any errors.

Two additional features are available:
  • Resist Fingerprinting (RFP): enable or disable Firefox’s built-in protection. This setting affects the entire browser, independently of K/F rules. Reload pages after a change.
  • Automatic cookie acceptance on F sites: this option is off by default and works with certain recognized banners. It also accepts advertising cookies; the usual F cleanup still applies. Other banners remain available for a manual choice.

The interface is available in French and English, with light and dark themes. In private browsing, when Forget Me has been allowed to run by Firefox, private rule overrides remain temporary and no cleanup report is saved.

Forget Me works locally, without an account or telemetry. Its settings stay in Firefox.

Automatic cleanup does not remove CacheStorage or OPFS. “Forget now” attempts to clear them only for the open page’s origin — the same protocol, hostname and port. HTTP cache, browsing history and saved passwords are not cleared. An open page can recreate data, and local cleanup does not remove information already sent to websites or their partners.
