Ghost Buster by Henry

Ghost Buster helps you decide which job listings are worth your time on Indeed and ZipRecruiter. It adds a color-coded badge to each listing, plus a few extra notes on the job description.

WHAT YOU'LL SEE ON EACH LISTING
- How long it has been up: the exact posting date when the page provides one, otherwise an estimate from "posted X days ago".
- "Tracked since": the first date your browser saw the listing. Reposts are detected when the same company and job title come back under a new listing.
- A ghost flag: listings older than a number of days you choose (30 by default), or reposted, are marked as likely ghost jobs.
- Estimated hire chance and competition level, based on listing age, reposts, and how many of a company's listings you have seen are stale.
- Salary, or "Salary not listed".
- The typical age of people working in that role, from US Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

ON THE JOB DESCRIPTION
- Impossible-requirement alert: warns when a listing asks for more years of experience with a tool than the tool has existed (for example, 10+ years of a technology released two years ago), or asks for 3+ years in an entry-level role.
- Hiring process steps: picks out any interview rounds or stages the employer describes, with a link to search for reported interview experiences.
- A breakdown of worker ages for that occupation.

FILTERS
- Block a company with one click.
- Block keywords such as "commission only".
- Hide sponsored/promoted listings, ones you've applied to or viewed, ones with no salary, and ones with impossible requirements.
- Choose whether flagged listings are hidden, dimmed, or just badged.

COLORS
Green: looks fine. Yellow: getting old. Orange: caution (high competition, or an entry-level title asking for lots of experience). Red: likely ghost, repost, or impossible requirement.

PLEASE NOTE
- Hire chance and competition are rough estimates from simple rules, not real hiring data. No site publishes that, and this extension cannot know whether a company is actually hiring.
- Age figures describe people currently employed in an occupation (BLS Current Population Survey, 2025). They do not show who gets hired or what employers prefer.
- Posting dates depend on what the site shows. Some listings show none.
- Job sites change their layouts. If badges stop appearing, a small status pill on job pages (which you can turn off) shows what the extension found.

PRIVACY
Ghost Buster runs only on indeed.com and ziprecruiter.com. It collects no personal data, has no analytics, and sends nothing anywhere. It saves your settings and a list of the listings you've viewed (company, title, and first-seen date) in your own browser, and you can clear that list from the popup. The interview-information link opens a web search only when you click it.
