- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14458819, 6 years agoI have been a user of Ghostery for a number of years. I have now disabled it. The reason? I am alarmed by the request to "access all data" submitted to websites. Why does Ghostery need to capture my sensitive data such as passwords? Is Ghostery GDRP compliant or should there be a referral to the Information Comissioners Office.? Come on Ghostery spill the beans why do you want all this data.

posted 6 years agoHi, in order for Ghostery to block trackers and ads, it needs to be able to detect and take action on elements of a web page as you browse. We do not record sensitive information, record browsing history, or disclose user data. Note that despite the prompt being new, Ghostery is not introducing any new permissions with the update. You can read about this in greater detail on our FAQ page, here: https://www.ghostery.com/faqs/why-am-i-being-prompted-to-approve-an-update-from-ghostery/ - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12815491, 6 years agoWhy do you need "acces your data for all websites " for the latest update ? i dont trust you anymore !

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14306959, 7 years agoDoesn't block anything on Facebook, which would be my only incentive to use it over AdBlock Plus, who has pretty much bent over for Facebook's ad team. Pointless.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14234711, 7 years agoNot compatible with FF 61.0.1 on LinuxMint. Freezes the whole program and needs to be force quit. In the past it's been wonderful. I will update my review if it works again, hopefully!!!

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14175147, 7 years agoBasically useless. It can't preemptively prevent cookies from being set. You have to go to the site which of course instantly sets a bunch of cookies, and only THEN you can block the site's trackers. Which means that for every site that's new to Ghostery, you'll have to go in and manually delete the dozens of cookies that got set. It's a whole LOT of work compared to what it would be if you could preemptively block all trackers.
Note that I do have global blocking and block all turned on, they just don't seem to work right.Developer response
posted 7 years agoSorry about that! Could you please shoot us over an email to support@ghostery.com so we can look into it? Thanks! - Rated 1 out of 5by Stin, 7 years agoI am quite disappointed in the direction the creator has taken this extension.
After years of use, I will never use this again due to the many concerns their recent developments have raised. I will be very careful to not use anything created by them in the future. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14160166, 7 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14159623, 7 years agoA chaque ouverture de Firefox, une page intempestive de Ghostery s'ouvre, et m'invite à "Surfer malin" (pas facile avec ce bug) et me demande comment je dois démarrer l'application (Ghostery) LOL ça devient redondant j'en ai marre et ne vais pas tarder à virer tout ça si le correctif se fait attendre !
Cordialement

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14151870, 7 years agoIn der Vergangenheit war Ghostery ein großartiges Add-On.
