- Rated 2 out of 5by FfoxRules, 8 years agoAlthough excellent in concept, if you delete cookies at the end of your browsing session, Ghostery loses record of *all* the tracking you want to block. Which I describe as a fatal flaw, because cookie removal is one of the basic things that you would expect a privacy-conscious user to do.
Seems like a bizarre thing for the devs to miss. I mean, who else would use Ghostery?
Otherwise, if you don't clear your cookies, Ghostery is an excellent tool that seems to do everything it promises, quickly and tidily. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12793893, 8 years agoOr simply install Disconnect. A company who's business model is you, the user, is not a company users should trust.
Some say that Ghostery, Inc. plays a dual role in the online advertising industry. Ghostery blocks sites from gathering personal information. But it does have an opt-in feature GhostRank that can be checked to "support" them. GhostRank takes note of ads encountered and blocked, and sends that information back to advertisers so they can better formulate their ads to avoid being blocked.[9] Though Ghostery claims that the data are anonymized, patterns of web page visits cannot truly be anonymized.[10] Thus not everyone sees Evidon's business model as conflict-free. "Evidon has a financial incentive to encourage the program's adoption and discourage alternatives like Do Not Track and cookie blocking as well as to maintain positive relationships with intrusive advertising companies," says Jonathan Mayer, a Stanford grad student and privacy advocate.[11]Some say that Ghostery, Inc. plays a dual role in the online advertising industry. posted 8 years agoHere is the response that we provided in the same article from which that information comes from:
"The data we collect in GhostRank doesn't contain any information about the actual ads that were seen by panel members. Rather, we simply report on the technologies that are used to deliver those ads, the performance characteristics of the URLs those technologies were seen on, and if the user blocked that particular technology company. GhostRank can't see the actual ads or anything about the criteria that were used to target them."
But, if you are at all uncomfortable with sharing any data after what you read, feel free to go into your Ghostery settings, click Support Ghostery, and make sure both boxes are left unchecked. That will ensure you never send any data of any kind our way and you can continue to use the extension without ever sharing anything. - Rated 4 out of 5by Polynésia, 8 years agoBonjour,
Comment sauvegarder ses préférences ? pas de possibilité dans le cloud ?
cordialement, - Rated 4 out of 5by Faculty Row Spam, 8 years agoThanks for sharing this add-on ,liked it ,totally different from the ghostery
- Rated 5 out of 5by JungAdArt, 8 years agoLove Ghostery. In Ver. 7.1.1.5 (and versions from November 2016 to this ver.), if 'Accept cookies from sites' option is not checked in Firefox v.50.1.0 (and the prior version), Options, Privacy section, even if they are accepted for just that page, the Ghostery trackers do not appear. It was as difficult figuring out this bug over the last two months as solving Will Shortz Sunday Puzzle on NPR. I have to rest now... I'm exhausted.

posted 8 years agoThank you for that information! Our development team are currently looking into this issue to see if a fix for this issue is possible. Thank you again for passing that along!
Have a wonderful day and please feel free to reach out to us at support@ghostery.com if you ever have an issue in the future. - Rated 5 out of 5by Shortvisit, 8 years agoGets rid of the junk that makes reading anything on the web plain annoying and does it without breaking anything. Have been using for years. Thanks Ghostery for your work and dedication.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Darren Chaker, 9 years agoGhostery is a decent product for the novice user who wants basic privacy. I would add other options to the extension, but then it may not be free any more when it provides options. But free is free and is not a bad extension.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 12539815, 9 years agoWell ghostery, I see that you have gone back to deleting reviews about people having real problems with your addon. I thought this was solved a couple of months ago. Most of these negative reviews are people having real problems with your addon (like me) and some have written into your tech support for help (like me) and may or may not have got help for there problems. I've worked in a highly technical field for many years and this type of practice that business do just to get better rating gets me upset. If you want better ratings, try fixing the problems you have with you product. I've been keeping a daily eye out on people writing reviews for your product on this site or others sites, and I notice that a lot of these customers were using older versions of ghostery, with little or no complaints, until they switch to ghostery v7. Some of these complaints were new customer using ghostery v7 for the first time and had problems right away. These people are real customers, not statistics on some web site. Communicate with them!!! Work with them!!! Just don't ignore them and delete them!!! I've been a long time ghostery user with no complaints about ghostery until ghostery v7 came out. Like it or not, ghostery v7 has problems, that many people writing these reviews have told you. STOP IGNORING PEOPLE AND FIX YOUR PRODUCT. Because I thought ghostery before version 7 was good, I will give you three stars.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Jill Greens, 9 years agoGhostery may have an ugly problem with Firefox: missing a few tracker, although add-on has always loaded the latest Tracker list.
There must have been a script, which manipulates the list when FF starts.
About support: has helped. However, had to reinstall all add-ons and re-configure everything. - Rated 5 out of 5by KarlPeter, 9 years agoFehler-Lösung ;)
Ghostery hat vielleicht zusammen mit Firefox ein hässliches Problem:
Wenn ich diesen Link nach einem Neustart geklickt habe,
https://extension.ghostery.com/de/settings
about:support Firefox bereinigen...
hat geholfen. Allerdings alle AddOns neu installieren und alles neu konfigurieren.
Solche Extensions wird man damit auch los:

OS ist Ubuntu 16.04 - Rated 5 out of 5by Howard, 9 years agoIt is amazing how much of our online use is monitored. This program shows us and allows us to block it all for each site. It is great to use!
- Rated 5 out of 5by Gl-l0st, 9 years agoI use Ghostery in conjunction with Adblockplus and NoScript and they seem to coexist together without issues. I wouldn't use firefox without Ghostery its a must have addon in my opinion. The dev's are updating it on a regular basis which shows commitment and dedication to making web browsing a more trustworthy experience.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 12687951, 9 years agoADVANTAGES: Blocks the surveillance of a user from different sites in the Internet.
DISADVANTAGES: Sometimes prevents users from switching to another site. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 12691466, 9 years agoWas working great until most recent update. Now checking and unchecking a box runs the risk of crashing your browser, even though the box is selected for "blocking new trackers" it still allows trackers, and overall it has been slowing down my browser's performance.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Buster Blue, 9 years agoIt's not terrible, but it's not as good as it was when I first started using it. There are now better tracker-blocker extensions out there.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 12238448, 9 years agoBeen using for several years with no problems. Did a great job but not with Firefox 50 update, blocking stats do not show and clicking on the icon only produces a blank page. Tried reinstalling and updating...no luck
- Rated 5 out of 5by FerFoxSake, 9 years agoSuccessfully blocks the numerous trackers and their spamming my e-mail account. How wonderful it is to use the internet without ads popping up all over the screen, and to see a video on Youtube or other sites, without noisy commercials blasting my eardrums out. Works like a charm. THANK YOU! <3

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12480203, 9 years agoWhat Sage said is true: "After the latest Firefox update the window that Ghostery displays for viewing trackers blocked along with all the rest, currently is blank.
Needs repair, I've removed it and installed it a few times with no success."
After installing the new macOS Sierra and then updating , this happened to me and there is nothing I can do to fix it. Back to you, Ghostery/Firefox, to fix this please. - Rated 4 out of 5by PimPam, 9 years agoHace lo mismo o quizas mejor, Aun no se!!! pero que las paguinas no lo notan tanto como AdBlock para obligarte a desactivarlo!
es lo bueno que tiene!!!!
Gracias - Rated 4 out of 5by Waldi, 9 years agoGhoster v7 stops working with Firefox 49.0.2 indicating null attacks in every site. To fix the problem I removed the add-on, restarted Firefox, installed Ghoster again and restarted Firefox. So, now it seems to work fine again.
P.S. I use NoScript and Adblock Plus additionally.
