Gmail Word Count – Words & Reading Time by Lakeside Apps

A small bar under every draft shows how long your email is while you type. Counting is free with no limit and needs no account. Pro costs $5.99 once, no subscription.

WHAT IT DOES
The count sits below the text of each new message and each reply, so it never covers the subject line or the recipients. Quoted replies and your signature are left out by default, which means the number reflects only what you wrote. Select a sentence or a paragraph and the bar switches to the size of that selection.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Open Gmail and click Compose or Reply.
2. Start typing. The total updates with every key.
3. Click the toolbar icon to choose what the bar shows.

PRIVACY
The extension runs only on mail.google.com and reads the text of the message you are writing to count it. Nothing is stored or uploaded. The only data sent anywhere is the email you enter to buy or restore Pro, which is checked against the payment.
