Camera frames and head/hand tracking are processed on your device.
Settings, calibration, provider API keys, routines and session diagnostics are stored locally by the extension. This build includes no analytics service.
When voice is enabled and a Groq API key is configured, microphone recordings are sent to Groq for transcription.
Configured natural-language command services may receive command text, tab titles and visible control labels. Requests beginning with “hey handsfree” may send permitted page context to Groq, including the page title, URL and page text.
Third-party services process this information under their own privacy policies. Handsfree does not control their retention practices.
You can stop microphone and camera capture by stopping the session or closing the capture tab. Provider keys can be removed through Voice services. Uninstalling the add-on removes its local extension storage.
On-device dictation is unavailable in this Firefox build; Writing does not silently switch to cloud recognition.
