Lagoon — Living Backgrounds by Divxtron

Animated wallpapers for New Tab and everyday websites. Local videos, a different backdrop for each site, and controls that keep your browser comfortable.

Lagoon replaces New Tab and adds a local animated wallpaper behind ordinary HTTP/HTTPS pages. Choose from four original pixel scenes, the included muted loop, or your own MP4/WebM video (up to 25 MB each). Assign a separate scene or local video to each exact website hostname.

Adjust opacity, blur, zoom, position, brightness, color and reading comfort. Use overlay mode to preserve website surfaces, or pause Lagoon on individual sites. Hidden tabs pause by default and resting videos release resources after 30 seconds. A saved still frame is shown while video loads; system reduced-motion preferences are respected.

New Tab includes an optional clock, editable website shortcuts and search using Firefox’s existing default engine. Before the first Lagoon search, Firefox asks for optional search-term consent. Declining leaves wallpapers and shortcuts available. Lagoon does not log searches, intercept address-bar searches, change the default engine, or send queries to a publisher. Common default shortcut icons are bundled locally; other sites have a neutral icon. No remote favicon service is contacted.

Wallpaper videos, still frames, shortcuts and site preferences stay in your browser. No account, advertising, analytics or subscriptions in this build. Export and restore your setup; videos remain separate.

Page access is used to inspect layout/theme colors and reveal the wallpaper through large background panels. Lagoon does not collect messages or record browsing history. Protected pages, browser controls, built-in PDF viewers and some embedded content cannot be themed. Initial browser navigation paint is outside the add-on’s control. Complex sites may require overlay or pause. WhatsApp overlap treatment recognizes English section headings.
