Newsmap Dark is an unofficial browser add-on that restyles and adds reading tools to the WHO Pandemic Hub / EIOS news map (https://portal.who.int/pandemichub/newsmap/). It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), or the EIOS initiative.

• The developer does not collect, receive, or store any of your data. There are no analytics, no tracking, and no developer-operated servers.
• The add-on only runs on the WHO news map page listed above.
• The only data that ever leaves your browser is public news headlines, and only if you turn on the optional English translation, enter your own Google Gemini API key, and (in Firefox) click "Allow".

You can delete all of it at any time by removing the add-on. The "Clear translation cache" button deletes the cached translations.


Optional English translation (off until you provide an API key). When enabled, the add-on sends the text of news headlines that are not in English or Chinese, and that the EIOS site has not already translated, to the Google Gemini API (https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com/), together with your API key, so that Google can return an English translation.

• What is sent: the headline text only (public news headlines published by third-party media and shown on the WHO news map). No browsing history, no personal information, no identifiers of yours other than your own API key.
• Who receives it: Google, under the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. If you use Gemini's free tier, Google states that submitted content may be used to improve its products.
• In Firefox, this transmission is declared as optional "website content" data collection and only starts after you grant consent in the add-on's settings panel.

Opening links. If you click a headline link, your browser opens the original news website directly. The add-on does not track or modify that navigation.

The add-on does not sell, share, or transfer any data to anyone else.

• storage: save the settings, cache, and counters described above.
• Access to portal.who.int: apply the theme and features on the WHO news map.
• Access to generativelanguage.googleapis.com: send translation requests (only when translation is configured as described above).

Any change to this policy will be published with a new version of the add-on and reflected in the effective date above.

移除外掛即可刪除以上所有資料；「清除翻譯快取」按鈕可刪除已快取的翻譯。


選用的英文翻譯（在你提供 API key 之前不會啟動）： 啟用後，外掛會把「非英文、非中文，且 EIOS 網站沒有附上英文翻譯」的新聞標題文字，連同你的 API key，傳送到 Google Gemini API（https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com/）以取得英文翻譯。

• 傳送內容：只有標題文字（第三方媒體發布、顯示在 WHO 新聞地圖上的公開新聞標題）。不包含瀏覽紀錄、個人資料，或除了你自己的 API key 以外任何可識別你的資訊。
• 接收者：Google，適用 Gemini API 附加服務條款與 Google 隱私權政策。若使用 Gemini 免費方案，Google 表示送出的內容可能被用於改進其產品。
• 在 Firefox 中，這項傳送已申報為選用的「網站內容」資料蒐集，必須在外掛設定面板中同意後才會開始。

開啟連結： 點擊新聞連結時，瀏覽器會直接開啟原始新聞網站，外掛不會追蹤或修改這個動作。

本外掛不會出售、分享或轉移任何資料給其他人。

• storage：儲存上述設定、快取與計數。
• 存取 portal.who.int：在 WHO 新聞地圖上套用主題與功能。
• 存取 generativelanguage.googleapis.com：送出翻譯請求（只在依上述方式設定翻譯後）。

政策如有變更，會隨外掛新版本一併發布，並更新上方的生效日期。
