- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13976039, 7 years agoWorks as expected, easy to use: install and forget. Been using it for months, don't plan to stop using it..
- Rated 2 out of 5by Stephen Smith, 7 years agoWorks to change the canvas hash, but the settings page is missing so I can't enable auto changing hash or disable the popup every time a site reads the canvas ID.
Edit: Turns out the settings button is there but cut off since the contents of the settings panel is more than 280px high and the author of this extension set body height: 280px. Please set body {overflow: hidden scroll;} instead of overflow: hidden or set the body height to greater than 280px so the settings button won't get cut off. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12645516, 7 years agoAfter figuring out how to stop the popup, it works great and without the constant popup distraction.
To stop the constant popup, go to: "Show add-on options" and change: "Select a time interval to automatically change canvas fingerprint" from Never to a time interval of your choice. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13867550, 7 years ago
- Rated 3 out of 5by François Villeneuve, 7 years agoI'm very happy that it fuzzes my browser fingerprint, but I wish it didn't pop a notice every time a site attempted a fingerprint, because that's basically every site (through their ad networks if not themselves). That notification needs to be toggleable. It might be nice if there was a passive visual indicator instead...
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13717542, 7 years agoIt's ok but why do I need a popup window for every canvas reading attempt? Just handle it silently ffs and quit disturbing me dozens of times a day!
Edit 3/28/18 came here again because the popups are still annoying. mobileusa's solution doesn't change anything. I already had it set to a time interval of 3 minutes. I changed it to a week and it makes no difference to the popup. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13645774, 7 years agoIt's a nice little unintrusive extension. Unfortunately it does indeed block google services (gmail etc.) from loading, so you have to manually turn the noise off when checking your mail (unless someone figured out what domain to whitelist in order to unblock google).
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firebird, 7 years agoAccording to this article "https://adblockplus.org/blog/adblock-plus-and-the-canvas-fingerprinting-threat" by Wladimir Palant, lead developer at Adblock Plus, anyone who has EasyPrivacy filter list enabled in Adblock Plus is essentially protected from Canvas fingerprinting.
My question for developer of Canvas Defender is: Do you really need this extension if you are using Adblock Plus or Ublock Origin with EasyPrvacy enabled?
My rating of this extension is based solely on limited use in Firefox Nightly, which I have installed alongside Firefox beta. It did not seem to cause any new problems. - Rated 1 out of 5by BRW, 7 years agoNot working with gmail on Firefox Linux 57.0.3 (64-bit). Gmail loads about 3/4's of the way on load bar and stops. With Canvas Defender disabled, gmail loads ok.

nice concept :)
Runs without problems on FF pre 57.
BUT with Firefox Quantum v57 update there are errors on Google Drive, Blogger.com and GMail !
Google sites seem not to be loaded now...
The deactivation of your add-on Canvas Defender solves it.
Perhaps it's only on my Win10 config. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13519232, 7 years agoIt works so well that google is defending itself, by blocking its services when it's on. Good work guys. Now, we need that "disable here but fuck the others / ads" button....

- Rated 2 out of 5by gianni, 7 years agoHello, could you please add an option to disable the popups that appear each time a site tries to track me?
Also please add a way to automatically "generate new noise". At each session, tab or every time the browser starts?
The addon prevents gmail.com from loading. It started working again when I disabled the addon.
Worst of all, I don't undestand why having a unique signature could enhance my privacy. My privacy could be enhanced if my signature was similar to million of others, not the other way around.... - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13385995, 7 years agotiene un fallo con gmail, que impide la carga, sin embargo con la versión para conexiones lentas no tiene ningun problema
