PRIVACY POLICY — NODUS YT Radar
Last updated: May 2026
- OVERVIEW
NODUS YT Radar is a local-first Chrome/Firefox extension. It shows where the YouTube video you are watching ranks against the Top 50 trending videos of any country, with a viral score and momentum analytics. All settings, caches, and history snapshots stay in your browser — there is no user account, no login, no cloud sync.
YT Radar makes external connections for three purposes only, each documented below:
- YouTube Data API v3: read public Top 50 trending and video metadata.
- Community Spotlight worker: fetch curated creator promotions, organized by country and category.
- Promotion click events: anonymous counter when a user clicks a spotlight item.
- DATA STORED LOCALLY ON YOUR DEVICE
All of the following is stored in chrome.storage.local (browser local storage) and never sent to any NODUS server:
- settings: country code, overlay mode, refresh interval, category filter, UI language.
- ranking_<region>_<category>: cached Top 50 from YouTube Data API.
- video_<videoId>: public metadata of videos opened in the popup (10-minute TTL).
- hist_<videoId>: time-series snapshots of public counters (views, likes, comments) for videos analyzed by the user, used to draw the growth sparkline. Snapshots taken at most every 5 minutes, pruned after 48 hours. Contains no identifying information.
- chcountry_<channelId>: cached channel country (from YouTube channels.list API), used for smart region detection. 24-hour TTL.
- _cacheVersion: internal flag for cache invalidation after updates.
YT Radar has no user account system, no login, no email collection inside the extension, and no telemetry. All keys are removed when the extension is uninstalled.
- EXTERNAL ENDPOINTS
3a. YouTube Data API v3 (public Google API)
- https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/channels?id=<channelId>
Data sent: country code, category id, video id or channel id, public API key. No personal data.
Google logs these requests per their own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
3b. NODUS YT Radar worker (Cloudflare)
Returns the active promoted video for the country/category combination. Data sent: country code and category id. No identity, no video being watched, no IP stored beyond Cloudflare's standard request log.
Sent only when the user clicks the "Watch" button on a Spotlight card. Data sent: promotion id. Nothing else.
Iframe inside the Spotlight carousel that plays the promo preview. Data sent: promoted YouTube video id, channel name, title.
- COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT PROMOTIONS
Community Spotlight is the section inside the popup displaying curated YouTube videos submitted by creators (free or paid tiers). When a creator submits a video at nodus-ai.app/yt-radar, our Cloudflare D1 database stores: YouTube video id, title, channel, thumbnail url, tier, target regions and categories, submitter email (for contact only), aggregate click counts. This information is provided by the creator, not collected from extension users.
From the extension user side, we do not store anything that identifies you. The worker only sees country and category preferences and, if the user clicks, the promotion id. We do not log which video the user was watching, browser fingerprint, or any account identifier. Cloudflare may temporarily process IP addresses for standard network operation (DDoS protection, routing); we do not write IPs to our database.
- WHAT WE NEVER DO
- Sell user data to any third party.
- Track which YouTube videos the user watches — only the active video id is read, only to compute its rank.
- Track websites visited outside YouTube.
- Read or transmit YouTube comments, search history, watch history, or
