NordVPN - a VPN proxy extension for Firefox by NordVPN

by Firefox user 14997599, 5 years agoFor the past few days/weeks this addon has made browsing a painful experience.
Everything slows down to a crawl in random intervals. The addon says that I am not logged in but even after I log in (and I get a message that I have successfully logged in), it keeps saying that I am not logged in. Changing servers also does not work because the addon is unable to retrieve server list.
I have been reinstalling the addon several times every day, which helps for a while but sooner or later it breaks again. I have also cleared cookies between reinstalls, as suggested by the "developer" but, unsurprisingly, this did not help either. Firefox is always up-to-date and I am not using any addons that might interfere with a VPN addon.
Similar behavior has been reported by other users and the only "solutions" provided by the "developer" are to reinstall addon, clear cookies or reinstall Firefox. They are either incapable or unwilling to fix the actual underlying problem with the addon. Instead, they try to shift the responsibility to the user. The amount of users reporting these issues is indicative that this is not an isolated user issue but rather a programming issue.
To other users: If you value your time and mental health then steer away from NordVPN firefox addon.
To the "developer": If your addon requires daily reinstall while multitudes of users are experiencing the same problems, then there is clearly something wrong with your addon. Don't bother responding that I should try this or that, I have already tried it all many times. Instead, do your job and fix the addon!
PS: I am also using the Chrome extension and it has been working well so far. Quite a stark contrast to the Firefox addon.

- Rated 5 out of 5by apredator, 12 days agoI use Firefox simply to be able to use easy NordVPN. I only buy yearly subs when on sale to save money. I use NordVPN to access Japan based websites that want a JP IP address. Works well, and I enjoy it.

Your support means a lot! -G.S.- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19778678, 19 days agoThe "Access your data for all websites" is set as optional, but you can't use the addon without giving them full access to my data across all website? Shoddy practice. Be mindful of this guys.

posted 19 days agoHello there. We understand your concerns! Please note that this permission is required due to the way the browser operates, and we have no control over it. We are still compliant with our no-logs policy and from our side, no permissions have been changed, so no data is collected and is fully protected. Apologies for the caused confusion. If you'd have any further concerns do not hesitate to contact us at support.nordvpn.com. G.M. - Rated 5 out of 5by Jeff, 23 days ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Bo Jonk, 23 days agoThe add-on slows down my browser enormously. When it's on, it takes 10 seconds for the page to load, without it, not a second. It wasn't like this before. I had tried everything and reset Firefox, but it turns out that the NordVPN add-on slows everything down. So no recommendation from me. With my regular Nord app/subscription, I have no problems.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17379958, 2 months agoThere aren't many VPN services that have been positively audited by security experts but NordVPN has proven, again and again, to be absolutely top-tier. I've been using them for years and they've consistently given me the most reliable connection, both on my phone and desktop, that I completely forget that I'm using them at all. That's really all that you can ask from a VPN.
