- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12752117, 2 years agoIt works real nice, provided the webp images are not in a frame (according to the explanation from the developer). But there's a workaround, opening the page in a new tab. After that, saving works. Fixing this minor issue would be excellent. Nice work and thanks!
- Rated 5 out of 5by Nikita, 2 years agoActually works, so I'm happy.
Shift + PNG.
Also, would be better to let the images save directly in last saved folder by default, instead of switching to it in options (and option isn't clear about what it does). - Rated 5 out of 5by Alex Pedruzzi, 2 years agoMuito bom! Converte imagens que muitos editores não reconhecem e oferece opções de qualidade na hora de salvar. TOP! Obrigado! XD
- Rated 5 out of 5by hope, 2 years agoworks exactly as it says it will, and i have it on for all image file types + it makes saving things instant! i couldnt live without it :)

- Rated 5 out of 5by megakarlach, 2 years agoIt simply just works, really great. It simply convert WebP to PNG/JPEG.
WebP is good but have some limitations, most systems and software generally does not have WebP, especially Windows (with it's photo viewer) and all old version of Photoshop until CC 2023, and some users hated WebP for many reasons, incl. had to convert files. - Rated 5 out of 5by Alex, 2 years agosince recently, the bar does not pop up on some images

Thanks a lot for the answer, now the bar appears.
Your supplement is the best, it is simply impossible to do without it.Developer response
posted 2 years agoSorry, yes, I changed a default setting in the last update. The bar used to always pop up in the "stand-alone" viewer (when you Open Image in New Tab). Now it only pops up automatically for WebP and AVIF images. But you can change it back in the Settings/Options.
Under "Button Bar Options" in the "Auto-close and Auto-open" section, there is a checkbox for "image/webp and image/avif only" -- uncheck that box to make sure the bar opens for all images if you might want to save a JPEG or PNG in a different format. - Rated 5 out of 5by Sauro P., 2 years agoI could not live without this extension. I do things that require me to save a lot of images all at once daily, so I've now grown completely dependent on this. Literally can't express how helpful this extension is to me, its my best friend in this cold dark world
- Rated 3 out of 5by Kis Albert, 2 years agoPlease add option to show bar for webp images only, I don't need this app for other images.

posted 2 years agoHi, if you click the "gear" button on the info bar, you can find that option in the "Auto-close and Auto-open" section -- check the box in the parentheses:
[x] Open bar automatically on stand-alone web images ([x] image/webp and image/avif only)
I thought that was the default. [update 3/27/2023: version 1.3.3 sets that as the default, but this is not retroactive to existing installations if you have customized any settings already] - Rated 3 out of 5by Eschatological, 2 years ago
- Rated 2 out of 5by Jacques, 2 years agoIt works but it is very invasive and annoying, I want to convert and choose a setting, I want it conerted silently, I don't want an annoying popup displayed on each picture, even on those that don't need to be converted.
As it is I prefer to save as webp and change the format afterwards in Photoshop ( with the adequate plugin and a script it is faster, give more control and it is more reliable)Developer response

* No automatic info / button bar *
On the Add-on's Options page, under "Button Bar Options", look for "Open bar automatically" and make sure it is *not* checked.
* Silent Save *
On the Add-on's Options page, under "Menu Item Options", you can set the "Plain click" action to save in your preferred format instead of showing buttons. Under "Save Dialog / AutoSave Options" you can control whether to show a Save As dialog or not.
I think that should resolve your concerns, but let me know if you don't find those options. - Rated 5 out of 5by Yoshimasa, 2 years agohighly customizable and im finally able to download web straight as png. I swear this is the only add on that does such a simple task
- Rated 5 out of 5by pjmarengo, 2 years agoThis has become one of my favorite and most frequently used Firefox extensions. I often download pictures from the web and it's so annoying when they are in the .webP format hat makes them hard to work with. This extension makes it so easy to download them as jpegs; I just right click and "open image in new tab" and that picture now has the options for the download format. Easy peasy.
As for downloading gifs... while this extension does not do that, it's very easy for anyone to do without an add-on: Click on the gif you want. From the Firefox toolbar at the top select tools --> page info --> media. Scroll down the list and click on the one you want; then click "save as" on the right-hand side.Developer response
posted 2 years agoThank you!
As a possible shortcut for the GIFs, you can restore the "View Image Info" command to the right-click context menu by toggling "browser.menu.showViewImageInfo" from false to true in about:config (see https://support.mozilla.org/kb/about-config-editor-firefox for more on about:config). - Rated 5 out of 5by juice, 2 years ago

posted 2 years agoFor best results with animated images, try using the "IE 11" button. That will re-request the original URL for the image as a dumb browser incompatible with WebP. That doesn't work on all sites, but it's worth a try.
If you are noticing that a specific site doesn't work with the "IE 11" button, could you share a link? You can send it by email jscher2000@outlook.com or create an issue at https://github.com/jscher2000/Save-webP-as-extension/issues. Thanks. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16433046, 2 years ago
