Simple Site Blocker — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026 · Version 1.30.16
This policy explains what Simple Site Blocker processes and what happens when you choose to report a bug.
Data stored in Firefox
Your blocked/allowed rules, phrase filters, exceptions, schedules, profiles, preferences, and security settings are stored in the extension's local browser storage. The settings password itself is not stored; the extension stores a cryptographic password-verification record. These settings are not uploaded to a server operated by the developer.
Website and YouTube access
The extension needs access to webpages to enforce the rules you configure and to evaluate supported page text. It processes rule matching in your browser and does not send your browsing history, block list, or extracted transcript text to the developer.
By default, the extension uses caption responses already exposed by the current YouTube player. In Settings → Content filters, you may explicitly enable advanced retrieval. Only after you grant the optional data permissions may the extension request the current watch page or caption resources directly from YouTube. Such requests can include the current video URL/ID and may use your ordinary YouTube session cookies. YouTube receives these requests under its own privacy policies. If you do not grant this permission, the extension does not make separate fallback requests; filtering continues to use caption data already exposed by the player and may not work for some videos. Caption text used for matching is not uploaded to the extension developer.
Optional bug reports
If you choose Report a bug, the extension asks before adding technical details to the email draft. If you consent, those details may include the extension version, detected Firefox version, operating-system family, and browser User-Agent. If you decline, the technical details are omitted.
When a Gmail draft is opened, Google receives the compose URL and draft content needed to fill the message. With the fallback email-app link, the chosen email application receives the draft. The developer receives a report only if you manually send it. The extension does not automatically send email. Do not include passwords or other sensitive information in a report.
Analytics, advertising, and remote code
The extension does not use analytics or advertising trackers, and does not load executable code from a remote server. Its core blocking and phrase-matching logic runs in the browser. It does not operate a developer backend for collecting browsing data.
Retention and control
Local rules remain in your Firefox profile until you change or remove them, clear the extension's data, or uninstall the extension. Bug reports are retained in the email systems used by you and the developer after you send them; their handling is also subject to those providers' policies. You may avoid sending a report, decline optional technical details, or remove local settings by removing the extension's data in Firefox.
