About this extension
Read an article, a Canvas page, a PDF or a YouTube video, add your own documents (PDF, Word, PowerPoint) and other tabs, and turn it all into teaching material without leaving the page. The AI Assistant opens as a side panel next to your source and offers sixteen tools built for university teaching:

Understand: summary, explanation at the right level (first-year, third-year, master, non-native readers), glossary, translation NL↔EN, a critical-reading note for students.
Assess: quiz bank with rationale, source quotes, Bloom level and item-writing checks; flashcards; formative check-ins; rubrics; an item check for your own questions.
Design: session plans, learning objectives with a constructive-alignment check, AI-aware assignment redesign, pre-class reading guides, slide outlines with a knowledge-clip script.
Ask: your own question about the page; in the chat the assistant can look things up on the web when the page cannot answer.

Every result can be refined in the chat and copied as formatted text, or exported: Canvas quiz (QTI), Moodle XML for Wooclap, CSV, Anki, Word, PowerPoint in the VU template. Results are kept in a history in your browser, together with the title and address of the page they came from. Create a course profile once (or import it from Canvas) and every tool aligns with your learning objectives and language.

Privacy by design: when you run a tool, the text, title and address of the page you chose are sent to the VU Education Lab's server in the EU, processed by an AI model in the EU, and not stored. Web searches send only a few search words to Microsoft Bing, and you see every one. Sign in with your VU Amsterdam email address; no password, no Google account. Nothing is sent in the background. Download or delete your data at any time in Settings.

Made by the VU Education Lab (Onderwijswerkplaats), Centre for Teaching and Learning, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. For staff and students of VU Amsterdam, Amsterdam UMC and ACTA.
