- Rated 5 out of 5by sleepytiramisu, 2 months agoI've been using this for awhile now, how long? I don't know but there wasn't many reviews when I decided to use it. I just wanted to leave a review now and while I can't say anything about a lot of the features since I don't use them but the ones I've been using have worked with no issues and been perfect for my use of it; which is mainly the loop button, automatic quality setting and volume boost. I've been testing the themes recently though and I've liked them. Thanks for the extension and the work you put into it VampireChicken & everyone else! :)

posted 2 months agoThank you for reviewing! I appreciate the kind words. I'm currently working on fixing features broken by the new YouTube layout. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15243999, 3 months agoDoes what it says out of the box. Alot of options and functionality. I chose this to replace "Enhancer for Youtube" after it disappeared from the addon list
- Rated 2 out of 5by gorp, 3 months agoUnfortunately unusable with the dark mode themes. Since they force black font and you can't read black font on a dark background. Can fix with custom CSS, but you shouldn't have to. You also can't edit the specific colors for each theme, which makes me wonder why they even show the color options.
Developer response
posted 3 months agoI can fix that if you make a github issue highlight where you experience issues. I understand that I'm sorry for the inconvenience. The color options are for the "Custom" theme I will make this more clean in a future version of the extension.
Edit: The color options will only be visible when the theme is set to “Custom” in the next release. Regardless, I’d still like to understand the source of the black font that’s making the text unreadable. I am committed to resolving this issue as quickly as possible, and your satisfaction is my top priority. I hope these fixes will positively impact your review.
Edit (2025-10-23): A new version with the fix for the color options and the new youtube layout has been released - Rated 5 out of 5by Steven Gutierrez, 3 months ago

Hmm, OK Mozilla changes has broken 115 esr add-ons?
Maybe they will update the esr, but dud not the last update 115.29.0esr.
Could there be a version on your github with your updates I could use that would allow the addon to update?
Thanks for looking into this.
p.s. my other addons are updating ok so far.
2025-10-24 Update.
Latest extension 1.29.0 also not updating. Still no error msg on update. Thinks its updated it, but re-checking updates puts it back in the update list. Guess its the same problem with Firefox 115.29.0 esr (64-bit) version *since updated from 115.28.0 used previously.
Any update on a possible fix please?
2025-10-04.
I'm using Firefox 115.28.0 ESR for Windows. I'm getting an error...
I'm using 1.28.0. "Available Updates" will now show 1.28.1 but won't install. No error msg.
Exported settings and Uninstalled 1.28.0.
Install latest version 1.28.1; Mozilla says file is corrupt. File: youtube_enhancer_vc-1.28.1.xpi.
CRC32 = df3dda8d.
Github .zip same error on install. SHA-256 verified the same.
Reinstalled 1.28.0 OK but restoring settings failed to work. No error msg.
The "Available Updates" will now show 1.28.1 again but won't install. No error msg.
I’m using Windows7, so it’s Firefox 115.28.0 ESR for me.
Guess it’ll be Linux after that because Win10/11...omg, what have they done!
Thanks for replying anyway.Developer response
posted 3 months agoUpdate the version of your browser, I tested with Firefox 115.28.0 ESR and had the corrupt install message then I updated the browser to 140.3.1 ESR and it worked fine. If this isn't an option I'll have to look into what is causing the install file to appear as corrupt for that version.
Edit: It is weird to me that this issue occurred. When I have time I'll try to test it all that changed from 1.28.0 to 1.28.1 was one bug fix nothing major changed so I'm confused as to what caused this to happen.
Edit (2025-10-24):
I’ve identified the issue, but unfortunately it isn’t something I can fix. Starting November 3rd, 2025, developers are required to disclose data collection practices using the 'browser_specific_settings.gecko.data_collection_permissions' key in the extension manifest.
Older versions of Firefox do not support this key. For example, when testing the extension on Firefox 115.29.0 ESR, the following error appeared:
Reading manifest: Error processing browser_specific_settings.gecko: Unexpected property "data_collection_permissions"
Edit (2025-11-06): Yes maybe they will update it but for now the addon won't work because it conforms to the new requirement.
I would need to release a version without this updated manifest value. Releases are automated so I would have to figure out a way to add that in. For now you can download the latest release from the Github and extract it then edit the manifest file to remove the unrecognized "data_collection_permissions" section - Rated 5 out of 5by the_nort, 3 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by KenAdams, 3 months agoAdds tons of new functionalities and changes YT's behavior to suit what I want.
One caveat - with the latest version, blocking YT Shorts doesn't work correctly anymore. This is the option that made me install this add-on in the fist place, so I'm hoping it gets fixed as soon as possible.
[edit] After reading the author's reply, I updated Firefox from version 143.0.1 to 143.0.3 and it indeed started to hide shorts as expected. Perfect!Developer response
posted 3 months agoWhat version of the extension are you having this issue with 'Hide shorts' not working, I tested with version 1.28.1 and Firefox version 143.03 on Windows 10 22H2 and it worked fine for me. If you are able to you can provide more information on the

- Rated 5 out of 5by Bobbey, 3 months agoDev even added a feature I requested. I really have to read the description of this extension to even know what it does - it's all natural for me now. I install this each and every time.

posted 3 months agoYou're welcome! I plan on making the settings page better eventually. - Rated 4 out of 5by Phil, 3 months agoGreat but lacks autoplay disabling even when it’s not a playlist.
EDIT : answer to the dev : I honestly don’t know how to be more precise. I am talking about autoplay, a well known YT feature.Developer response
posted 3 months agoThanks for your review, If you give me some more information about what you are talking about I maybe able to implement this feature.
EDIT: Oh I understand now. The extension doesn't stop the autoplay feature right now but I could add that to the list. - Rated 5 out of 5by OlTkor, 4 months ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by abc, 5 months agoThe only open-source general youtube enchancer I know, works great
- Rated 5 out of 5by Bradley Schneider, 5 months agoWonderful Add-On with source code available under MIT License. I replaced "Enhancer for Youtube" with this entirely about a year ago and realized I should probably give it some love. The former is no longer as reliable as it once was unfortunately and this add-on implements most of the same features and just does it better as far as I'm concerned.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Genomu, 8 months agoA great alternative to the "Enhancer for youtube" that stopped working. The only important thing missing at this time is the popup player that appears as you scroll down to read the comments. Thank you for making this.
- Rated 4 out of 5by robsku, 9 months agoI do really like this... However, at the risk of messing things up, I'm actually using two separate "Enhancer" extensions at once, and the other one I like even better. Why then this? Because it's not perfect either, and I think they complement each others nicely. I use Enhancer for YouTube™ as my primary enhancer, I use it for theme, automatic video quality (separate for regular, fullscreen, popup and mini players), and automatic comment sorting, and to add some buttons under the video player - mostly. And then I use this mostly to add more buttons inside the video player. However, if the other one ever becomes unavailable (and it was for a while at one point), then I'll use this one for much more.
Anyway, both are awesome - and I thank you for making this, and even more for making it FOSS!! <3 - Rated 5 out of 5by carbonbear, 9 months agoGreat little add-on for Firefox. Still giving it 5 stars despite the playlist annoyance.
There's no setting to disable the add-on from hiding playlists which means no auto-play music. I can disable the add-on, but I still have to restart Firefox to see playlists again.
Edit: Disabling the add-on actually does nothing even with restarting. I wish a setting to view playlists was a thing.Developer response
posted 9 months agoThe addon doesn't have a hide playlist feature, every feature this addon adds must be enabled by the user it does nothing by default. I think you may have reviewed the wrong extension.
