YouTube No News by No News Good News

A quieter YouTube homepage, with news videos still available whenever you want them.

YouTube No News hides dedicated English news shelves on the desktop YouTube homepage, including their headings and shelf spacing. It matches the shelf’s own heading, rather than video titles or channel names.

What it hides
• Dedicated homepage shelves headed News, Breaking news, Top news, Latest news, or Local news.
• Matching is exact after normalizing capitalization, spacing, and harmless edge punctuation.

What stays available
• Individual recommended videos, including news videos.
• Search results, subscriptions, watch pages, channels, Shorts, playlists, and the sidebar.
• Non-news shelves.

Simple control
Hiding is enabled by default. Open the toolbar popup and switch “Hide homepage news” off to restore content, or on to resume hiding in open YouTube tabs. The setting is saved locally.

Privacy
No data collection, analytics, telemetry, or external requests. The extension stores only its on/off setting on your device. It does not access your account, click recommendation-feedback controls, or change your YouTube preferences.

Compatibility and limits
For desktop Firefox 140 or newer, on https://www.youtube.com/. Detection currently supports the English shelf headings above. YouTube can change its page layout; unfamiliar or ambiguous shelves are left visible to protect unrelated content.

This is a visual homepage customization. It does not prevent YouTube from loading the underlying shelf data.
