- China began a crackdown on VPNs in April 2026, severely restricting Proton VPN and Privado VPN. Incredibly They rely too much on OpenVPN / WireGuard . This is easily identified and blocked by Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), AdGuard VPN was able to connect quickly under these circumstances. I suspect this is due to its unique encryption protocol, which is different from other VPNs. This is quite surprising, allowing you to maintain your connection even under strict internet censorship.
