Been a Firefox user since it was an alpha release. I've never written a review for any extension until now. This extension made Firefox on Ubuntu usable for me again. I typically have several tabs opened at all time. After 12 or so, Firefox would become nearly unusable, particularly if any videos began playing in those tabs. Auto Tab Discard has made it to where I can have several dozen tabs open and everything runs fine. To the developer, thank you so much for this.

One thing I will point out is that the name is a bit misleading - No tabs appear to be discarded, thrown away, or deleted. They are just put in a suspended state and removed from active memory. At one time, I thought Firefox had a feature like this built in however, if that still exists, it no longer works very well. Auto Tab Discard is an absolute must for me now.

    beautiful extension, went from using 27 GB to about a 7 in a few minutes, no notes

    Using with Firefox 151.0.1 (64-bit) on Linux Mint 22.3 with 16 Gb of ram. Generally run about 15 tabs, with many known for eating ram (e.g., voice.google.com). On average, app will reduce consumed amount of ram from 5 gb, down to 2 gb if all tabs are asleep "aka discarded". very much worth it.

    SO FAR SO GOOD, WORKED IMMEDIATELY "OUT OF THE BOX" WISH WE COULD WHITELIST LEFT ALIGNED PAGE FORMAT VS JUSTIFIED FORMAT. THAT'S JUST A LITTLE NUANCE, BUT THE REST IS GREAT👍

    I use this extension regulary and its the best out there it doesnt get in the way and the shortcut for relaoading all tabs in the current window is superb. will contribute in the near future.

    I've only used this extension for 5 minutes and I already love it! Surprisingly, it still works, despite that the last update was 4 years ago. I installed it only because of this option: "Allows for the forced discarding of specified hostnames". And it works better than expected! It doesn't allow opening tabs leading to a specific site. Not just "open and then autoclose the tab", as I thought it would. It plain and simple doesn't allow the tab to be created! <3
