New: exclude a site straight from the in-page button.

Use the menu beside "Download with Cove" and choose "Exclude <this site>". Cove opens its own confirmation page before the exclusion is saved. That page names the site it is about to exclude, and the exclusion is only written when you choose "Exclude site" there. Choosing "Cancel", or simply closing the page, leaves your settings exactly as they were.

A confirmed exclusion takes effect on pages that are already open, without a reload: the in-page button disappears from that site. To undo it, remove the entry under Excluded Domains in the add-on's options.

The site that gets excluded is the one in the address bar. A video player embedded from another site, and the server the video itself comes from, cannot put their own name on the exclusion.

Saving the options page keeps an exclusion that was confirmed from another tab while the options page was open, and still saves the unrelated change you made there.

No new Firefox API or host permissions are requested.

The Firefox data-collection declaration is updated to describe the information Cove transmits to the locally installed Cove application. Earlier versions declared none, which was not accurate for an add-on that hands downloads to a local application, so Firefox may ask you to confirm this on update.

Browser and device technical information is optional. The browser user-agent is only included in a handoff when Firefox reports that you currently grant the technical-data permission, and you can turn it off at any time in about:addons. When it is not granted, Cove does not transmit it, and your downloads keep working either way.

Nothing is sent to the developer, there is no analytics or tracking, and nothing is sold or shared.

Fixed: the in-page Download with Cove button now respects Excluded Domains.

On a site listed under Excluded Domains, the button is no longer shown and nothing is handed to the desktop app from it. The right-click menu entries already honored the list; the in-page button did not.

Changes to the excluded-domains list take effect on pages that are already open, so adding or removing a site no longer needs a reload to take hold.

No permission changes in this version.

Fixed: downloads whose size Firefox does not report now reach Cove instead of being rejected.

Firefox reports an unknown size as -1, and that value was passed straight through to the desktop app, which rejected the handoff because a size cannot be negative. The size is now sent as unknown, and the download goes through. In testing, Firefox reported the size as unknown for every download, including one whose server declared a length, so this affected far more downloads than the wording "responses with no declared length" suggested.

Fixed: the video download button is more careful about which source it sends. It now waits for the player's own address to be usable rather than acting on a partly resolved one, and prefers the address the element itself names over one inferred around it.

Changed: the description of the minimum file size now matches what actually happens. The minimum can only be applied when Firefox gives a usable size at the moment a download starts, so a file smaller than your minimum may still be taken over. This is a wording correction, not a change in behavior.

What's new in version 1.4.7:

The download button on videos is more accurate about what it can do. On a page where the video's address cannot be worked out, it now says "No video found" instead of quietly sending the page itself to Cove, which produced a download that failed for no visible reason. The button also stops getting stuck after that happens, and a video on a page with several players can no longer be sent using a different player's stream.

Interception also cleans up after itself more reliably. A download the browser finished or cancelled while the extension was asleep used to stay on the tracking list for the rest of the session, which could misclassify a later download that reused the same id. And the toolbar badge now shows OFF whenever interception is disabled, instead of being overwritten by a count of videos found on the page.

The free Cove Download Manager desktop app is required because it provides the download engine. Install Cove, launch it once, and then click "Test Connection to Cove" in the extension to link them.

Cove's handoff puts a limit on the cookie header it accepts, and a big site's full set of cookies could exceed it, which made Cove refuse the whole download. The extension now sends the download without cookies rather than sending an oversized header, so the download still reaches Cove instead of failing outright. Cookies are never truncated, because half a cookie header authenticates nothing.

Cove's native handoff bounds the size of the cookie header it will accept. A large site's full cookie jar could exceed that bound, and Cove then refused the entire download rather than just the cookies. The extension now drops an oversized cookie header and sends the download without it, so the download still reaches Cove.

The header is never truncated - half a cookie header authenticates nothing, so sending a partial one would fail in a more confusing way. Cookie handling is unchanged for every site under the limit, which is almost all of them.

Requires the Cove desktop app 3.5.1 or later for the matching fix on the app side. Older app versions still work; they just keep rejecting the oversized case.

Fixes a bug where downloads sent to Cove (auto-detected downloads, right-click "Download with Cove", the in-page media pill, and the keyboard shortcut) would bypass debrid resolution when a Real-Debrid, AllDebrid, or TorBox account was enabled in Cove, causing the host's confirmation page to download instead of the real file.

Also fixes the "Download with Cove" context menu item disappearing after restarting Firefox.

What's new in 1.4.1:
