关于此扩展
The modern Reddit feed is a slot machine's psychology applied to a link aggregator with a data harvesting mechanism built on top. Yuck. And now they are randomly blocking old.reddit.com and gating it with account requirements. Double yuck.
Sheddit gets rid of all of that. What's left is a list of links, ranked, with the scores and the comment counts and nothing whatsoever trying to extend the session. It re-renders modern Reddit into the efficient and readable old.reddit.com layout -- on the fly, in real time -- as you browse. It works on the page you already loaded. There are no API calls, no login, no account, and no server in the middle — the extension reads the post and comment data modern Reddit has already put in the page and draws the old layout from it. If Sheddit cannot render a page, it gets out of the way and leaves Reddit exactly as it was.
Currently expanding support to logged-in browsing (work in progress)
What's new:
0.47.0 — what a logged-out session on live Reddit found
Fixed: clicking an arrow while logged out moved the score and lit the arrow without casting anything, and the wrong number stayed until you reloaded. Sheddit forwards votes to Reddit's own button rather than making requests itself, and treated that button's presence as proof you were signed in — Reddit shows it to everyone now. A vote is only shown as cast where something can answer for it; otherwise the arrow says you are not logged in.
Fixed: changing pages emptied the screen until the next one arrived — five seconds of nothing on a live click, with the browser too busy to draw a replacement. The page you were reading stays up until the new one is ready.
Fixed: an image on a comments page drew at full height and pushed the whole comment tree below the fold. Capped against the window now.
Fixed: share was a link to the post's own page, so on a comments page it went where you already were. It opens a box with the link in it, as old reddit did.
Fixed: a profile Reddit hides said "has nothing on this tab", which reads as Sheddit failing rather than as Reddit's answer.
Fixed: posts keeping their picture URL in a responsive image set lost their thumbnails, leaving gaps down a listing.
Known: load more can stick on some listings.
