I thought this extension would allow me to customize the "startpage" search on the Firefox home page.
In particular, put the startpage home page in French because you can only have it in English without an extension.
But no ! the extension also does not allow you to have the Startpage search in French by default... it just changes the Firefox start screen as anyone can do without this extension by clicking in Firefox Settings/ home page.
Basically, this extension is absolutely useless. Doesn't add any functionality, nor fill any gaps that users may have. Too bad, I'll still have to keep Google which offers search in French by default... it's boring !

I am not talking about the interface but about the search.
When I type "Obama" on Google or DuckDuckGo, all the answers are in French. Because it detects that my browser or IP are in France and favors answers in French.
When I do the same thing on Startpage I only have answers in French. So I have to systematically force the search in French and for all searches.
So I would have really liked this extension to allow you to indicate once and for all to set the language of the search on the home page.

发布于 2 年前The extension is intended to make it easy to set Firefox's default search engine to Startpage, which we think it does pretty well.
Unless we're misreading you, what you're suggesting can be achieved by setting French as the preferred in language in Firefox (about:preferences#general) and doing the same in Startpage settings (https://www.startpage.com/do/settings).

Until today, when it decided to take issue with my VPN and block me from searching until...whenever it decides to unblock me, I guess? It had me fill out a form, then said I'd still be blocked until whenever it decides to unblock me. Useless to me now, I guess. Bye!

2) Searches from the address bar default to Safe Search: Moderate and there's no way to change that.

It's actively getting in the way of searches and harming the user experience. - 评分 1 / 5来自 Firefox 用户 13508883， 1 年前I went to the startpage site because duckduckgo was having issues briefly, and I added the search add-on, the type that you used to get on mycroft, in case I ran into trouble like that again. When I did this, it surreptitiously went ahead and installed this full browser extension as well. The process was either without my consent, or made to look like I was consenting to the thing I actually wanted.
Go figure, sketchy behavior by the company that used to use Alex Jones as a poster boy. I'm ticking with Duckduckgo, but I was alwas going to. This just confirmed my feelings about Startpage.开发者回应
