I recently couldn't figure out why YouTube videos were taking so long to begin playing (I'm talking 30-60+ seconds). It wasn't my internet (high speed) nor my computer (buffy gaming computer) that was the problem. The video would load just fine when it actually started to play, but it took forever for it to buffer enough to start to play the video. I would often have to refresh the page when the video would seemingly freeze in infinite buffering.

Turns out, it was this extension all along, even though I ONLY used it to remove the trending page tab on the sidebar. How exactly does removing a tab in the sidebar even affect playing a video at all?

    Ich habe lange (auch mit Hilfe von Gemini) nach GENAUSO einer Erweiterung für YouTube gesucht!

    DANKE, dass du YouTube wieder ein kleines Stück erträglicher UND nutzbarer machst! :-)

    YouTube ist grundsätzlich toll, aber diese teilweise ABSOLUT - schlimmen - "Verbesserungen" - machen YouTube - OHNE - so manche "extra" Erweiterungen total Unkomfortabel und frustrierend!

    Ich möchte vor allem KEINE Shorts sehen! - Aber auch sonst ist YouTube VIEL zu überladen und stressig geworden!

    Ich habe Social-Media "fast" komplett den Rücken gekehrt. Ich ertrage und WILL diese ganzen "tollen" - EXTRA - Social-Media-Funktionen NICHT! - Ich will auch KEINE Algorithmen haben! - Ich will einfach - NUR - DAS - sehen, WAS ich abonniert habe und zwar in DER Reihenfolge, in der es Veröffentlicht wurde. Ich will und brauche KEINE Vorschläge!

    Ich hatte erst andere "reine" (andere) Shorts-Blocker, aber da YouTube IMMER noch viel zu stressig war, habe ich weitergesucht und Gemini hat mir "Unhook - Remove YouTube Recommended & Shorts" empfohlen!
    Die Weiteren Anpassungs-Möglichkeiten NEBEN dem Blocken der Shorts sind ebenfalls SEHR nützlich!

    This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. The customization options are perfect, for example:
    - On the right-hand sidebar, I DO want to see recommended videos, but not playlists or live chat or fundraisers. Easy peasy.
    - At the end of a video, I DON'T want to see promoted videos overlaid on the video I'm STILL WATCHING, but I do want to see some recommended videos after the video has ended. Works perfectly: 'Hide End Screen Cards' enabled, 'Hide End Screen Feed' disabled.

    Easy to install, thirty seconds to customize. Just what you want in an extension like this.

    A very, very useful extension.
    Over the past 10 to 15 years, I've spent far too much time on YouTube.
    For the past few months, Unhook has helped me use YouTube in a much more positive and intentional way, helping me to watch only the content that is truly useful to me.
    I use it on all the browsers on my PC as well as on my mobile devices.

    Makes YouTube feel like it was designed for humans again instead of maximizing engagement. Surprisingly polished experience and the ability to replace the home screen with subscriptions is amazing.
